Description

I finally got around to creating a typing chart just like the pokémon one. To those who aren’t familiar with it, it shows what types are weak or strong against one another. The top row has the defenders while the attackers are on the side column. A good majority of the usual types still hold true to their nature, but I’ve made a few tweaks and, of course, give my creative insight on the newest types I’ve created for my Zakamon Project. Just looking at the chart alone won’t explain it obviously, so here are the full details:

Within the pokémon franchise, many of us have complained that the ice type is indeed the worst type because of it offenses and how weak it is. It also didn’t make any sense to have the ice type be only resistant to itself. So, I changed that here within the Zakamon universe. As you can see, I’ve made ice strong against fire and water for pretty logical reasons. Fire can’t really survive in a blizzard. So, why not have ice be strong against fire because of that factor?

As for ice’s strength against water, I took in the fact that when you put ice cubes in a glass of water, for example, it gets cold. So, that should also apply here as well. Also, for my new air type, ice is also strong against that as well. Ice within the wind is very common and it can cause freezing effects. So, there ya go with the ice. Makes much better sense now.

Speaking of my new types, let’s start out with the very first one you see listed: Gemstone. First of all, yes. I know that rocks and gems are about the same, but in this case, I wanted gemstones to have their own type. Defense-wise, they are stronger, but the only thing they share with the rock type is its weakness to steel and fighting. In a twist, though, the gemstone type is also weak against rock and itself. So, even though it’ll have higher defenses than rock, it’ll also be fragile in terms of the number of weaknesses. It can still take a reasonable amount of hits, though.

Next up in the Baby type. Obviously, judging by the name, you can already see that it’s pretty weak. You can clearly tell by the many halves on its row. In actuality, some of those half damage attacks has more logic to back it up. On the electric type, for instance, babies and electricity typically don’t go together very well. A single shock can be fatal. So, by having the baby type be weak against electric both defensibly and offensively makes perfect sense. It’s also weak against fighting and, believe it or not, normal! Yep, you heard right! I’ve finally made the normal type have a super effective response. It’s basically like how a typical baby can never tolerate a spanking. However, there is a silver lining to the seemingly defenseless babies: They are super effective against the ground type. Why? Because they usually love to make messes in the mud sometimes.

Light type is next and this one was pretty difficult to figure out. It took me tons and tons of research. Here’s what I discovered that makes the light type the way it is: Light’s strength against water means that it can shine through the liquid, no matter what. It doesn’t actually bring harm to the substance, but still. Light also scares away ghosts. Ever played Luigi’s Mansion or the spotlight levels on Super Mario 3D World? That’s where I got that theory. Light is against dark for obvious reasons. Now, here’s where I really dug deep into the research. White light shining through a gemstone usually creates a spectrum of light on the other side. That’s why I’ve made it strong against the gemstone type. It’s obviously resistant to fire, electric, laser, and itself. No need to explain why there either.

Mysterious type is a confusing type. It’s basically a stronger and more resistant twin of the psychic type. I call it mysterious because it’s a creature that’s not normal, but has a puzzling function that deserves to have the moniker. Just like with the ghost type, it cannot touch the normal type and baby type, but it’s strongest against itself. That undetectable power cannot take by so much of itself. It’s also strong against the aforementioned psychic type, ghost type, and dark type. It’s mainly because they are just as mysterious as it is.

Air type is the flying type on steroids. Since I noticed that a good majority of flying type moves have the word ‘air’ in their names, I figured that why not have an actual air type? It’s strong against fire and water because a good strong burst of air can blow it out and blow right through it respectively. It’s resistant to electric because technically the air can assist the electricity to some degree. The only other strength it has is against laser and there’s an interesting theory as to why: I found out that there’s an air-powered laser weapon in existence. The air itself is combustible against lasers!!! So, there ya go.

Speaking of the laser type - It’s got strengths, two offensive immunities, and zero resistances! It’s very strong against fire and electric for ‘explosive’ reasons, but why severely harm ice, rock, gemstone, and steel? Well, again, through the power of intensive research, I’ve discovered that lasers can cut through those elements like a knife through butter. You already know why it’s also strong against air.

Better late than never, but a huge shout-out to Banjoisawesome2019 for this suggestion nearly three years back:

I finally got around to creating a brand new type and, once again, it took tons and tons a research to get it right. Introducing the Sound Type and it's stronger than I thought!! You see the many strengths, but very few immunities and weaknesses there for the sound type. Turns out that sound can travel through so many things, but the most interesting one was with light against sound. Everybody should already know that light is faster than sound, but against each other, they "do not combine to constructively nor destructively interfere"! I don't know why I didn't come up with this type in the first place! Now that I did, expect to see some pretty cool brand new Zakamon with this type. They'll definitely show that I'll love it just as much as the electric type.

Whew! There you have it. Hopefully, you’ll understand it better now.

Aw, man... you're right. 😰 That's okay, though. I like what I have here, although Sound type is a good idea.
