I'm not entirely happy with the rendering on this girly, I feel like maybe I lost steam halfway through, but I love the overall composition, and for some reason my favorite part of her is her feet, that little spot right under her arm where her ribcage would be, and her little head-branches. Also those butterflies. They really push her back into the image and I love it. I feel like this would be one of those images that would really benefit from a 'draw-this-again' challenge someday in the future.Lady Hawthorn belongs to

OMG CSEMBER! This turned out wonderful! I LOVE the way you rendered the bark! ;0; I can tell you put so much time into each little segment! I adore the highlights, they almost look reflective, especially on the green, but I can see it on the brown too. I also REALLY love the different hues you added to her body. She's got some yellow-ish browns and red-ish browns blended throughout her body. I personally struggle with adding different values to an area, so I abmire you abilities to do that here! I think it adds tons of interest and makes the character more exciting to look at. (not flat and all the same color) <3 The effects you gave her eyes is also really stunning... I actually really really like that look a lot.... Pink is a huge theme in her daughter's designs, so I might um... maybe steal that idea of pink energy glowy stuff ;0; <3 IF you don't mind.

As far as adding colors to places, I usually pick an overall color 'tint' like green or red, and try to add that in each color. Then, I pick colors from around the image and try to blend them into as many subtones as I can. Like, I saw red at the ends of the hands, and decided that that red needed to be the color I shaded the bark with overall, but also a hint of green from the leaves, because it's alive, but also pinks, because the butterflies.

I thought it really belonged in this design, and couldn't figure out why it wasn't represented... sooooo I represented it with undertones, the glow, and those butterflies. XD
And yeah, go for using the pink glowy effect. My idea was that when she was using her ability to help things grow, her eyes glowed. She just stopped to take a break after growing the branch she's sitting on, so the glow is dissipating.
(I really did spend like 5 hours on this... It was very late/early when I was finished T-T)

holy carp you put so much thought into this ;0; gosh. That means so much to me that you were interested/cared enough about the character and the painting to put that much design thought and story into the artwork. I absolutely ADORE paintings that tell a bit of story or depict aspects of the character's personality. Just makes for such a more interesting painting to look at and explore. So many more things to learn about the piece and what's going on inside it. <3 Thank you so much! And I absolutely ADORE those ideas... I had no idea about the indian hawthorn flower.... and I might just keep that idea too XD <3 Lady Hawthorne has many daughters, and the ones who inherited her powers have pink flowers in their design, but I never really picked an actual flower to base them off of.... so Indian Hawthorn it is! And maybe they will have a family crest with that flower symbol on it... ;0; <3 who knows. AH im getting so inspired by this painting. AHHHHHHHH. This painting is a gift that keeps on giving CSEmber! Like. I really can't thank you enough. This has inspired so many new details about her story that I can run with ;0;!!! I'll have to repay you someday, buy drawing your new taum once you finish your TMC!!! .3. Thank you so much! Im even more excited about lady hawthorne's story/family than I was before, and that says a lot, since I'm literally obsessed with her right now XD <3

Haha I'm nuts about world building and character building. I'll usually put research and thought into stuff like that without even thinking about it! ... Especially at about 2AM. That is the inspiration hour. It's also the vaguely loopy hour, but mostly the inspiration hour.
I'm so glad you were inspired though! It's really cool that I managed to find things about your character that you never really got to flesh out, and it makes me really happy that you liked the liberties I took!
Someday.. someday I will have a bab all my own. I'm almost halfway, through, and next is the ref sheet. (scary, by the way, because good lord I know I'll make it hard for myself...)
