My brain goes wait wut the guy becomes the protector even tho he's spent all his life doing nothing... thats gonna lead to some intresting circumstances (even if they are schooled/read about defence/protection LOL)

haha yup! It's meant to ensure that they respect the difficulties of each-other's lives. They are life-mates, and are meant to share everything, including understanding the hardships of not being together in an unfamiliar environment, and being able to protect those they love.
