Description
First of all, this is not part of a theme, it's just a start orb for Windows 7.I included a txt file with installation instructions.
Inspired by Stanley Kubrick's movie: 2001: A Space Odyssey, and the great Smooth HAL 9000 Vista theme from:
The zip now contains the BMPs, so you can use it with the button changer app.

This awesome, but to those who have read the books 2010 was not Arthur C. Clarke's last novel in the series, it has a total of 8 novels and it isn't till the last one he finally fully lets us in on the real purpose and meaning of the Monolith. Great Sci-Fi series. Love Arthur C. Clarke's books, I have only read the first and the 3rd book in the series, the library I went to had 2 out. But I have the original movies on old VHS tapes, and love what Stanely Kubrik did with the films.Β

I have this now and love it! It would be awesome if you could make it in a variety of different colors to match different themes people use. If you could do that I would be very grateful!

Trivia: SAL9000 was voiced by Candice Bergen in 2010 'The Year We Make Contact." I am the Tutor of Achilles, by the way; for now. I saw 2001 in '80 and the sequel in '84. Both films stand on their own even today. At 42 I can assure the rest of you whipper snappers that I feel just as young as my first day at preschool when I was 2 years of age. I just don't cry for my parents anymore. Thank you for uploading this. It will serve as my first download as a registered user.

Thanks for the wonderful but simple concept.
Also I am not sure if anyone in the posts knew or not but there was a blue eye as well. SAL 9000 was blue. Check out the 2001 sequel 2010 the Year We Make Contact made back in the early 80's. I know I am so old

Thanks for the kind words!
BTW: I watched the sequel since then, and even read Clark's book. It was a bit weird, but made things a bit clearer about the whole story.

Just wanna ask where did you get the picture of HAL 9000 (with transparent background)? I'm currently search for a big one for my avatar.

Well, I found the picture with google, and than cut out the bg in photoshop, to make it transparent. It's really not that hard.

Just wanna ask, too, what did you do to achieve the second orb (the one when you hover your mouse over the Start orb)?

I used two different image, and played a little with the level values and the brightness/contrast rates.

It's good, i just don't like the blue. To me, HAL supposed to be red, like in the movie. But that's just me

Any chance for the medium and large size buttons? For those of us that like to use those sizes, people don't seem to be making the buttons. I tried doing it myself but keep screwing it up. I love the button and will use it for now but I have a high res screen and really want to use the medium or large size.
Great work, nice button!

I can make them too, I just didn't think anyone uses those sizes. I'm gonna update the zip and the description (again ), as soon as I got the time to make it.

Thank you so much!
It seems these are most often neglected as there are other buttons I want to use on a couple of other computers I have other themes on, but those are not made in the bigger sizes either.

I can make one.
I will update the zip and the description as soon as I'm finished.
But since I don't have a 64bit system I cannot test it.
