I was getting a vibe from that as well. Or maybe the Flume plant-monster? That was what made the Smooze meaner and badder than the first round. Stands to reason it could be a big bad monster all on it's own...

Yeah, first gen, first movie, the main villains(a family of witches) summoned/made it because they hate ponies. the original was a little different though...

Imagine a giant purple tsunami with a million cookie monster faces as it covered the original's equivalent of canterlot... while singing a rather catchy tune...
