Stupid ? No. After all, even though her bro's a general officer (or "just" senior officer ?) in the Equestrian Ground Forces, Twili's not exactly been trained as an armed forces officer. She is quite the planning/organising type, but she's no soldier.

This is an interesting development. Things are never as quite as black and white as they appear at first I'm sure both these sides have good arguments to back up their positions.

I was so excited to see a new page up! I've been looking forward to oogling over the artwork itself for a couple of minutes, then the story. What drives someone to turn peace into chaos? And like everyone else, where did he amass all those soldiers? Something tells me it might be mind control, but that might be stretching it....

The kind of person that can amass that many soldiers while a Princess that has supposedly ruled the land peacefully intrigues me. Think about it. Why on Earth would these soldiers be willing to throw away the peace unless, Celestia is really a tyrant(not the purely benevolent kind either), there is mind control involved, or this guy managed to convince them through various methods to join him either with promises of riches and power or freedom. I don't know.
If the first one is true, (assuming that as a result this is AU) the past of Equestria is thrown into doubt. What if Celestia was tyrannical and banished Luna/NMM(who was trying to save Equestria) to the Moon. It could be that the "Night Shall Last Forever!" was metaphorically referring to Luna/NMM not going to fall to the Daylight Princess. Of course, history is written by the victors, right? I can't say that Discord wasn't evil, or better than this theory's Celestia, although his line, "I don't turn ponies to stone." suggests that she has turned more than Discord to stone. Chrysalis, I'm not quite sure how to try to fit her into this.... King Sombra, he is a little easier to fit into this crazy idea. 1002 years ago, Celestia decided to annex the Crystal Empire. Luna, whom at the time was starting to form ideas of rebellion, was forced to go along with the plan. King Sombra, in order to protect his subjects, sent them 1002 years into the future in hopes that his co-conspirator against Celestia, Luna will have the power then. When he sealed into the Arctic Waste, he went insane because as a mere unicorn, he wasn't meant to exist for 1000 years.
How do you explain why he hid the CH up in the tower? Remember that when the CH is used, whatever emotions or energies are channeled through it are spread across Equestria. If somepony wanted to re-affirm their grip upon the kingdom, the CH would be the perfect tool to use. I can't find a way to explain his Dark Magic though; of course, I could say it was Celestia's magic that he learned from her at some point.
Of course, that is all crazy and took much too long to type.

Where the heck did he got THAT many soldiers from to outnumber CelestiaΒ΄s army? I mean, that guy surely canΒ΄t be more popular than a princess who had reigned your country for 1000 peaceful years, years in which your ancestors lived in harmony and happiness. And now those soldiers want to throw that all away and turn this into a bloody chapter of EquestriaΒ΄s history cause one guy who lived how long, 30-40 years, tells them to do so?

Strange, so the elements would be able to stop them, wouldnt that open the possibility of Celestia using the elements to suffocate any rebellion and perpetuate herself in power? We can deduce that those jewels have the same relationship with Celestia than the one a dictator has with his or her army, a vile tool of oppression and terror. I tell you, those things relate to harmony the same way Saint Francis of Assisi with Jack the ripper.
I find it fascinating.
