Who wouldn't be frightened of unexpected public speaking? It's bad enough when you have time to prepare something to say; this is quite literally the stuff of nightmares. It's probably not going to be so great for the crowd either.
Looking at those two flags, I can't help but imagine that Shiny's hiding a divide in the crowd, and any moment now they'll begin the holy war for best princess.

I beg to differ about the "leads the most elite combat unit in Equestria"... that is his sister, who leads a unit so secret that the members of it don't even realize they ARE an elite combat unit. Of course, in effect they are more short-range artillery than infantry, so it evens out.

I don't think many things would make the show look better but if the ponies animated in a similar fashion(at least from the front) they would look better.
