The Lieutenant Commander seems very intense. I wonder what happens if you comment on her small stature and call her cute? I'd test it if only I had some bulletproof glass to hide behind and a patsy to say it.

As far as I see it, Shining armor rose to the rank of 1st Lieutenant in the royal Equestrian army.
He showed so much promise that he was inducted into Princess Celestia's personal guard. From there he excelled to such degree that he rose to the rank of captain and was given command of the entire unit.
Yes, he's a very special soldier, but he still must recognize the E.D.F. rank structure.

I just realized that changelings are basically bug ponies. And the E.D.F. has the same initials as the Earth Defense Force, who fight off BUGS! I don't know if you did that on purpose, but that is hilarious.

Cloudburst= Royal Air guard Lieutenant Commander. As such, she's second in command of the Equestrian Air force.

In that next-to-last panel, the Lt. Commander looks like some kind of evil, enraged Octavia. And Lyra is so cute, I just want to hug her.
