Description
The XM-387 Infantry Combat Hardsuit promised to redefine ground warfare, with a highly configurable modular loadout system and heavy armor, all carried by a powerful, yet compact back-mounted generator, granting infantry enhanced battlefield vitality and firepower. However, the promise was never quite fulfilled- even if any of the technology required for the power supply existed, the armor itself was suspiciously revealing, and was intended to be worn by girls between the ages of ten and twenty years old. When questioned on that matter, the designer- according to sources- "just sorta looked down and twiddled his thumbs a bit".
Needless to say, the XM-387 never saw combat. However, the concept proved to be invaluable in groundbreaking legislation in regards to decency of experimental designs, and played a major part in seeing its designer put out of work.
The girl posing in this image is Marie Alvarez. She's not significant in any way, actually; she was working as a photography model at the time the picture was taken to help pay for college. By now I think she's a chemistry major at San Diego State, with a minor in child psychology. She also plays the bass in a band she formed with her roommates- she's not any good at it, though, but she insisted on playing the saxophone.

Includes work with line cleanliness, hard surface shading, and a personal animu style that's not trying to be somebody else's for the sake of fanart. I am mostly pleased with the result; feedback appreciated.

Haha, that's a hilarious, and surprisingly consistent backstory I love the idea that there's some pervy designer behind all of the "combatΒ lingerie" females seem to end up in. Like, it HAS to be intentional, but in the reality of the narrative it's never acknowledged. It's seen as totally natural that someone would spend millions of dollars designing a combat system that only works when it's operated by teenage girls wearing short skirts. You know, industry standards and all that.

She reminds me of that girl from Keroro Gunso. I like the overall design even though it's impractical.
Say, the one used in this image was just a costume, was it? It would make a really mean cosplay outfit, just how much is it for the current iteration?

The one in the photo is a mockup, and was about fifteen grand to build. Obviously the project was discontinued, but a working prototype prolly would've been somewhere around one million or so.

conceptually, the idea is good, but they just need to bring in a different designer in order to re-adjust it for usage by i dunno, ACTUAL combat personnel. sending children to fight in a war with mecha-armor, pfft. like that's ever wor- never mind....

I'd like to see another version of this suit with a Marine in Desert MARPAT. I like it, it reminds me of an M1A1.
Also: those hands would be very difficult to use with weapons protruding like that. Maybe add some form of arm-mount that's connected to the back to fold the weapon away when not needed?

well doesn't really have to be that revealing. i mean, you could always wear some fatigues under it. but really the whole "girls between 10-20 years old" really put the nails on the coffin for that man i'd say. i mean, what're we looking for? child soldiers?
you do seem to be getting better at merging your old style with this new animu one. that earlier Meguca/Far Cry piece you did seemed to not meld to together as much. the background and the characters seemed too different.

That, and there's the problem that the technology to make it work doesn't really exist.
The thing about that last thing was that I was trying to replicate the style they used in the show. And I guess it could've been that the characters had lineart and the background did not.

...That shorty underneath the armour seems to have been added as an afterthought.
Comments?

That was the intention all along. As fucked up as that mecha musume stuff might be, it's still fun to draw.
