A concept for Bane I liked. In my universe Santa Prisca is a South American or Caribbean island nation. Edmond Dorrance, called the “King Snake” by Islanders due to his habit of killing his rivals with snake venom, led a coup d'état against the islands dictator. After Dorrance defeated the regime he kept the generals daughter as his concubine out of spite to his enemy. However over time her grew tired of her and threw her to the “pit’. A male prison for the worst criminals and for enemies of the regime. However, his mother would not die instead birthing Dorrance’s child within the prison. That child would become Bane.

Within the picture I have four versions of Bane. One of him with a mask, one without, one of him as a teenager and one of him with his mother as a baby. The moustached man is his father, the warlord “King Snake”. The blond scarred man is the American “Bird’ a Pit inmate originally from Gotham who protected his mother for many years and would be Banes mentor within the prison.

The remaining two characters are Ra’s and Talia Al Ghul. I liked the way the Nolan films integrated Bane, the League of Shadows and Talia together. In my version as part of her initiation into the League as an assassin a 13 year old Talia was sent to kill King Snake by her her father, however she failed and Snake threw her to The Pit, as he did Banes mother, expecting her to be violated and killed within hours. Instead she would fall under the protection of Bane, only 15 but already large and respected within the prison. After two years surviving the brutal prison the duo would escape the prison and follow through, together, with the assassination of King Snake. After this Ra’s would recruit, at his daughters behest, Bane into the Shadows. However, much like Batman after nearing the completion of his apprenticeship Bane would fall out with Ra’s and leave the Shadows. Bane would return to Santa Prisca where he would make his name as a mercenary and would volunteer to undergo the “venom” trials.
