I love, love loved the new Spidey game and love what they did with MJ. I think she was a little bit too much like “Lois Lane” so I’ve kind of met classic MJ and Insomniac halfway.

The idea is that she’s a reporter for The Daily Bugles video streaming service/channel. She started out working on fashion and then on to entertainment but finally gets to do some more newsy/crime stuff thanks to spider-man coverage. Her attractiveness earns her both praise and criticism with her being popular with the public but disliked by “traditional” journos like Eddie Brock and Jean DeWolffe. She longs to be a hard-hitting crime journalist and often finds herself involved in supercrime. She can often be seen with her colleague and cameraman Ned Leeds (a more adult version of the movie version) though is usually alone when being sneaky (like the game).

Like the game M.J has been friends with Harry and Peter for years having had an on-off relationship with the latter. She knows Pete is Spidey and is fiercely protective of him. Spider-man has the best supporting cast in comics and MJ is a strong reason for that. I never thought her being a “model” or “Hollywood” actress and though I don’t buy her as an Ultimate-style nerd either she’s a character that is capable of being more action-oriented and constantly displays empathy, sass and bravery. Making a career out of being hot just doesn’t seem worthy of MJ to me. She’s a fighter
