Description
This is my entry for the Mythos and Magic Contest held by Athena-stock. [link]Quite late but finally done. As the title already says, this is my interpretation of The Frog King, a fairytale from the Brothers Grimms collection.
It turned out to be quiet challanging to use all these reqiuired stocks without overloading the picture.
But after all it was great fun. So thank you for the contest and of course for the stocks.
Required stocks:
reed: Athena-stock [link]

Thank you so much for your encouraging comments, I really appreciate it!
But never mind, I dont really care much about more attention, this not yet the quality level IΒ΄d like to reach, so this all has to be seen as practice.

This as practice? That can not be, this is on a level I've never seen most photo-manipulators reach...

I think if you want to make really good artworks, you have to take your own photos AFTER making a concept, to get tem exactly as you need it. Or you have to be master in 3D modelling, then really everything is possible.
Take a look at this cool stuff, thats totally freaking: [link]
Theese guys are using 3D Software as 3dsMax or cinema4D, but all the blending, texturing and color mood is always made in photoshop. And of course the arrangements there are not done by accident, this is all well planned.
I started learning cinema4D, but its really time consuming. But maybe 2-3 years of intense practicing in 2D and 3D, and everyone can do such great stuff.

I found you casually due to the poll of :iconfairygoodmother: and I must say that I am impressed with what you achieved and how you worked. I haven't seen the rest of your gallery yet, but I will.
I did just one photomanipulation a while ago (I am new at this), but I love this kind of art and I watch several great artists. What you did here is extremely good. All details taken care of and the way you changed each stock and how you used them shows that you like working and that you enjoy it.
Cutting and pasting things together is easy, but combining them in a way that they match well and grant a final result like this one is not easy.
Regretfully, this can only be appreciated by those who tried and know how much time and work it takes.
Congratulations on a beautiful arwork!

Thank you, that is the original lizard wich I used as reference for the painting, since IΒ΄m unable to draw an anatomical correct lizard by heart, I needed something to look at. For comparison: [link]
IΒ΄d like to draw some fictional environment arround this painted lizard too, just to practice with corel painter. Currently it seems to me, there are hundreds of pens and brushes available, but not the one I need

Nope, I didnΒ΄t. What I was searching for, was a very simple soft oily pen, with not too much structure, slightly merging with the underlying color.
I created one for myself now, but still my main problem with oil color is that is sucking slow in higher resolutions like 300 dpi A4 and big brush sizes. I make a stroke and I have to wait four secunds to see it, that is really crappy. You cannot paint like in reality this way. I have a very fast dual core computer, that canΒ΄t be the reason. Resolution too high? What brushes and resolutions do you use to do oil paintings LaDonna?
