Description
I went to it and pressed the first button. The metal plate of the elevator went up. I pressed the second button and it moved down again. I pressed the last button a second time and now we could see, that on the floor, where the elevator had been, a second metal plate moved down, to a secret level in the tower. Garrett crouched down and looked through the hole in the floor to the secret level.
"I don't see any undead. But it is pitch-black down there.", he said and so I guided my lightball in the secret room.
No undead.
Garrett sat down on the border of the hole and jumped through it. Because the secret level was not very high, I followed him on this way. When I hit the ground and looked around in the room, my breath caught. I turned around to Garrett, who also had turned paler, and clinged to him (which is very unusual for me, but well, I have never been in a situation like this before!). Right in front of us lay the skeleton of the mage. The loopholed robe hang down from his bones. Next to him there was a highly decorated dagger on the floor. At the foot of the bed there stood a blue chest, but not even Garrett had eyes for it now. Far from it! I recognised, that it was not only me, who clinged to him, he also clinged to me.
"D-do you think...?"
"The Necromancer. FOr sure."
"Better we keep staying right here."
I nodded enthusiastically in agreement. "And keep your hands away from his dagger. I'm sure it is cursed!"

We kept staring at the dead body of the mage for minutes and feared, that he could raise and attack us at the smallest movement from us. And we both knew, that a Lich is way more difficult to fight against than the measly zombies from the level above.
But then I realised, that it was not my playfellow from my childhood, to whom I clinged. He was an adult. [...] No matter if we stood in front of a dead necromancer or not! So I pushed him away from me and stepped backwards.
"Come on, he can't react on moves or noises. I mean, we jumped down to this level and he has not moved yet. Let's check this room.", I said more to myself that to Garrett.
