You have played Deadly Shadows, yes? One question, when entering Caduca's chambers you may have noticed a petrified hooded figure, right? How the hell did that happen. Some have said that it MAY have been Caduca. But after watching the beginning of a brutal cutscene I disagree.

that is a sigil from the keepers. they use it to open doors... well, in fact, they use it to delete the spell that makes the illusion of a wall, where in fact a door is. ^^
