Oh look, it's summer - must be time to do a Gargoyles crossover! Once again, Kingdom Hearts is the chosen victim. This idea bit me back in December 2004 [link] and still hasn't gone away. A "Gargoyles" level in KH would fit perfectly - big fanbase, good character design potential, great voice acting, and nefarious forces abound. Alas, the new game doesn't have it (oh, but freaking "Tron" gets its own level...) Oh well - not going to keep me from my fun!

This was an experimental piece. I've never used Prismacolor markers on Bristol, and I wanted to see what would happen. Also, I managed to do this with absolutely no ink outlines. Sora's pose was a challenge, too.

Favorite Part: The keyblade was most fun to create. It's called "Avalon," and based on the design of several magical items from Gargoyles. If this level existed, you would acquire it from Oberon and Titania. Also, you would be able to time travel, as Sora's just found out. Gotta love that crazy Phoenix Gate!

Least Favorite: Sora's clothes. They're modified from his KH2 outfit, partly because I couldn't get a reference picture until I'd already started coloring. Oh well...

Note: "Deflagrate" is Latin for "Burn," and part of the spell to activate the Phoenix Gate: "Deflagrate muri tempi et intervalia." Yes, I am a dork.
