Deep within a dark,forboding jungle,you come upon the building---an archaic,crumbling structure that looks as if no one has dwelled here in more than a century.At least,nothing alive---or human.It was,at one time,a splendid hunting club catering only to the cream of high society---now fallen into spectacular ruin,this ancient edifice looks as if it could collapse at any minute.
Tattered flags and banners,discolored with the passage of time,sway from the balconies above.Windows have been boarded up,while the remnants of long-dead plants occupy the flower boxes in front.The wreckage of a small,two-man airplane is there,having apparently crashed into the upper floor of the house at some point in the past,as has the disheveled gondola of a balloon nearby.A rusting,overturned jeep rests in the front yard,while the remains of several boats lay half-sunken in a river of quicksand that runs halfway around the building.
We cannot enter through the front door,as it is buried under a collection of wooden masks,sinister-faced tikis,and several rather disturbing pieces of ornamentation,made almost entirely of animal bone---at least,we assume it's animal.Several wooden signs,in English as well as other languages,warn any and all would-be explorers not to enter this building.Another entrance is discovered around the side,but before we make use of it,the ominous sound of thick,bubbling liquid can be heard,although we do not yet discern its source.The small,multilingual sign posted above the entrance provides a clue---warning that the entire building is slowly,but inevitably,sinking into quicksand!
