Originally a crude sketch of a 1940's masked vigilante in trenchcoat and fedora,I was inspired,not just by Watchmen,but by Before Watchmen's Rorschach series;I only wanted to slightly suggest that this is the late '70's...a planned Farrah Fawcett poster for one of the walls was dropped,I figured that even such a detail was visual overkill,it would take away from the sight of Rorschach throwing himself into a wave of grungy,mean-looking hoods,two of which are wearing leisure suits.Related content

I like the 1776-1976 on the shirt of one of the thugs. I remember seeing that when I was a child.

I liked the idea, the image of one slightly disturbed but single-minded vigilante against seemingly overwhelming odds.
