Description
This was inspired by a story in DC/Vertigo's Astro City comics....it can be found in the collected volume 14, Astro City:Reflections.

The main figure here is Zozat,a young member of a race of otherworldly beings known as the Zirr;as the story opens,Zozat is on his way home to reunite with his parents and older sister,having just finished a term at his government-sponsored school,where he's earned high marks. For many years,the rulers of his world have been in a seemingly endless battle with a pack of vicious alien monsters....who just happen to be the Fantastic-Four-esque First Family of Earth,a family of superpowered heroes,scientists and explorers. According to the Zirr's leaders,the First Family have repeatedly and mercilessly attacked,even killing one of their past leaders. Like most of his world's citizens,Zozat hopes to one day join in the battle against his society's enemies.
Shortly afterward,however,Zozat actually meets an injured Karl Furst,the First Family's youngest member...and after helping him reunite with his parents,he learns the truth. His world's leaders are actually the aggressors,having desired to conquer Earth for years,only to be thwarted numerous times by the First Family...who,contrary to government propaganda,are not the monsters the Zirr citizens have been led to believe. Zozat's disillusionment with his leaders is made even worse when his sister,who served as a soldier in the unsuccessful attack,is now deemed unworthy in their society...her own parents won't even acknowledge her presence...and she has been brainwashed to accept her disgrace without question. This fills Zozat with a new purpose,to perhaps someday change his world for the better.
