Eleven years ago,I did a piece called welcome to gotham,which depicted a gathering of Batman's rogues' gallery in a Gotham City setting. Don't bother looking for it in my gallery,as I deleted it just before posting this. To my eyes,it had not aged very well and I'd wanted to do a revision for some time.
Originally to be of several of the villains seen from an angle like the one in the piece above,I decided to reduce it to just Joker and Harley (who wasn't in the original) as I thought the first idea would be too much visual clutter. Batman was also in the distance in that one,but so far way that he seemed more like an afterthought than an actual element of the picture. So I made him part of the perceived narrative,and included much of the Bat-Family.
