And yet again delving into hopeposter territory,as well as the artwork of Alex Ross,this was inspired by Ross' cover art for Astro City Vol. 10:Victory. The title derives from the image and its resemblance to the iconic grouping of DC comic's three most well-known heroes...Superman,Wonder Woman and Batman. Probably not too much of a coincidence,since it's published by the same company,albeit through their Vertigo label.

It's a great story,too...the superheroine Winged Victory,already a controversial figure for her string of empowerment schools for lost women,as well as her outspoken public views on feminism,is accused of being a complete fraud...that the superpowered nemeses she encounters are actually in her employ,the so-called battles nothing more than staged spectacles. With the superhero Samaritan (her secret lover) at her side,and with unexpected help from the enigmatic Confessor,a quest is undertaken to find the one responsible for this smear campaign. Further complicating matters is a battered teenage boy who shows up at her doorstep,wanting the sort of protection and instruction in self-defense that Winged Victory only teaches to women...furthermore,her previous life,forgotten after receiving her superhuman abilities,has risen to demand her attention.
