If you recognize that number, you might be a Trekkie.
Species 8472 are malevolent alien creatures who show up several (three, to be exact) times in Voyager's travels. I re-watched "Scorpion" today, which is one of my favourite Voyager episodes (my favourite is "Unimatrix Zero", if you were wondering. xD YAY FOR SEVEN.), so I thought I'd draw a Species 8472, just for fun. n_n And then I remembered how much I like to invoke blasphemy against nature, so I made one of the darkest, most dangerous creatures in the galaxy CHIBI. YEAH.
Species 8472 is not amused. D:

I wouldn't go so far as calling them malevolent. Who wouldn't be pissed if you were in your own galaxy minding your own buisness and a band of crazy-assed cyborgs invaded your home and tried to make your species one of their own without your consent? Wouldn't you come out kicking ass and taking names?

Not sure if they'd win. Considering how many chibi-fans would immediately set out to hunt them all down and cuddle them to death.

Also, I'm actually glad they never gave 8472 an actual race name (okay, ST Online gave them one, but unlike SW, anything outside the Tv series is not canon.) It actually makes them more memorable in my mind. Its not another race name that you'll never remember. Its a number...that will kill you the instant it find you

rofl. I'm not a Trekkie but I love Voyager and 8472 were my favorite aliens in that series. "Scorpion" and "Prey" were pretty dang awesome. "In the Flesh" I really disliked because...well, they were awesome when they were the most powerful aliens in the universe and I hated seeing them...well, lose some of their awesome. Alas.
But this is funny. So chibi. So adorable.

When 8472 was introduced, they were the bad-ass "The weak will perish" of the universe. Then "In the flesh" started and they were like, "we have to plot a sneaky invasion of earth so starfleet won't attack poor, innocent us!"
Have you ever read Terry Pratchett's "Lord's and Ladies?" I would like to see a Star Trek species with that kind of personality.
