Description
So I was about to discard this completely, it just didn't mechanically turn out the way I hoped...I messed up the shading and even the composition beforehand,
but I decided to upload it anyways and hope you bear with me.
Even though I know a lot of things which are off, criticism is always welcome and very helpful...
have a nice day

It may not be perfect, but it is powerful. (besides perfect is overrated)

Thanks a lot!
I agree, sometimes techinque and execution is overrated (and perfection even impossible)
but it's still a pity, if it loses impact as a result.
Though I have to admit, I enjoy loose free (and somewhat imperfect) linework by a lot of artists

I really like your use of colors in this, it evokes a feeling of discomfort. Restraint, pain and sadness as well. The way you did the cross hatching is lovely, you can tell the volume of the face well by the subtle bends on the wires and the nose.
Perhaps the one thing I thought that it misses is some blood dripping from where the barbs press against the skin - it feels improbable to me that no injury would come out of barbed wire pressed to tightly against someone's skin, haha.
Overall, its a great concept!

Thank you so much for this in depth comment!
I'm glad it somehow came across and that you even liked the rendering
(even though I was very displeased by the technical outcome myself)
For the wounds and blood. I agree, it is highly unlikely not to penetrate
or at least scratch the skin. It did even cross my mind, when I was drawing,
but seemingly I dismissed that thought^^
Including some damage would have been hard without disrupting the idea
or making it gory,
but certainly it would have been worthwhile...
Next time I'll try better^^
and thanks again

You're welcome!
I can somewhat see what you mean by being displeased, but you shouldn't be so harsh on yourself. It feels more messy than other works of yours, but for this concept I don't think it keeps anything from passing the point across!
I'll love to see more~

thanks, that's too kind of you
Probably there is no way around disappointment in art,
but as long as it doesn't hold one back from continuing the journey
there are way worse things.

It's certainly a thought provoking concept. Great texture on the facial hair in particular! Thanks for sharing anyways.

Thank you, that's very kind of you to say!
It crossed my mind some time ago and I'm really glad some people enjoy it,
despite it's flaws^^
