I totally agree. New way to open the season felt very refreshing and helped to flesh out both, the friendship between Celestia and Twilight and Starlight and Trixie. If I were to choose I would say I liked "Celestial Advice" more, given the emotional charge and the look into Twilight's and Celestia's friendship and the struggles both of them exprienced during their mentorship. It was surprising yet very welcome addition. As for the "All Bottled Up" I feel like it did better work on Trixie than season 6, although I felt it could use more..."something" - I can't really describe it, but I guess I was simply more impressed with episode 1. Still it was season opening worth waiting for ^^

I rather 1st episode with 7,5 (because it could be better), and the 2nd one with 8/10, that was very fun

The writers made Twilight essentially give herself a slap to the face by having Starlight "graduate," despite having nowhere near the amount of development and progression she did.
But wait! Because Starlight hasn't made enough progression, despite the fact that she graduated, and she offers almost nothing in terms of chemistry or group dynamics to the mane 6, we're gonna have her stay (even though Celestia sent Twilight on to bigger and better things when Twilight clearly did not want to have anything to do with Ponyville).
I did like a good deal of the jokes in the first episode, though (especially with the medals, where Luna finally shows her earnest but slightly awkward side from Season 2, and they poke fun at Thorax's... eccentric new design).
I thought that the second episode was kinda bad. Apparently, everyone gets to be an impressively talented magic user when the plot calls for it (it's not like having anyone struggle with something that might be assumed to come naturally, or work hard and struggle with developing a difficult skill, would be good character development or anything). Also, disappearing spells don't exist, in spite of a certain recent invisibility spell. And that magic map that persisted even when the timeline was altered? Easily teleported away! Oh, and how many times are we going to have Starlight magically alter the minds of others before it gets old? Everything else aside, the episode feels uninspired when it has to cut away to uneventful filler to fit the 20 min time frame.
I'm just hoping that these unimpressive first few episodes are either not indicative of how the season is going to go, or they're just an unfortunate symptom of the focus on the movie (and this is an example of what might've happened if they tried doing 26 episodes in season 3, when they were making candy colored humans).

Yeah, I kinda don't watch the show that much now. The pony-related things I mostly do is look at fan-art and Fimfiction.

I thought this episode actually did a good job of illustrating a less divine and more (for lack of a better word) human side of Princess Celestia, showing how much she and Twilight are alike.
Now the second episode was a little weak. Trixie is made to hold the douchebag-ball for most of the episode, cutting away to the mane 6 singing while Glimmer's anger was unleashed made the episode seem unfocused, and the idea that she's literally bottling up her anger struck me as a little on the nose.

There is no dislestia. Discord is comepletely dedicated to Fluttershy and he even mentnioned her in the last episode before the rest of the mane6.

I admit, I'm still not a Starlight fan (and never will be), but these two episodes were not bad at all. In fact, I was glad that the show deviated from the old formula and gave us something more down-to-earth. But I have to agree with you: if they don't balance out the appearance of the Mane 6 and Starlight, I will consider this show cancelled.
Anyway, Celestia's story about hesitating to send Twilight away was the highlight of the first episode, but, like you said, the analogies stop here and we have to bear with Starlight a bit more. At the moment, I don't mind it, let's see how it plays out.
With the second ep I have more issues. The biggest problems are the downplaying of the Mane 6 (although I admit, they could've been omitted from the episode entirely) and the dickish nature of Trixie. I love Trixie, but she was extremely stupid and annoying sometimes. But hey, at least it was her that triggered a new satanic power of Starlight, right?

But seriously, I do hope this season will not turn into the Starlight Glimmer Show... :/

The first episode just aired, and just look at the ratings. Let's just hope the remainder of Season 7 can bring back some light and be better than the previous seasons.

I was actually worried my comment could have been harsh, rude.
Of course, one shouldn't just accept anything as a MLP:FIM episode or comic issue, quality is important. But sometimes we tend to have a harsh opinion of something and just criticizing right away before giving it a better chance to show itself.
But regardless, I will love Friendship is Magic like the first day I watched it. It brought me something I didn't experienced well back then: happiness, the joy of watching a nice, sweet cartoon with charismatic characters and a fantastic universe.

Honestly I haven't really watched the series since Season 4 because how crappy the eps have been going. Sure there's one or two good eps in 5 and I can't really tell you what I remember out of 6.Β
