Alvin yawned, stretching his arms way above his head. "I'm so tired," he whispered to Simon, who happened to be sitting right next to him. They both had the same science class together and sat next to one another due to the students being arranged alphabetically. Simon was breezing through the class with flying colors while Alvin was struggling to hold down a C.

Simon didn't say anything but gave Alvin a stern look that said, Don't you dare fall asleep in class, before looking back at the teacher who was droning on and on about cells or something. Alvin rapped his fingers against the wood table, thinking,

The TEACHER should go to a cell... in jail... for being so boring. That should be a crime. Alvin smirked as he pulled out his binder in which he wrote his brilliant ideas. He counted them up. 57, all in this class. Jeez, this class is boring! Alvin scribbled down his idea for being boring to be a crime before facing forward and smiling. To anyone else, they would have thought he was actually paying attention for the first time, but he was really thinking about what he would do if his teacher was in jail and what kind of hot teacher might replace her. Alvin set his elbows on his desk and smiled, staring at nothing.

Eventually, he got bored thinking of what would happen because he was still stuck with the jerk of a teacher he had now. Alvin groaned and ripped a paper from his notebook and began to absently draw little swirls all over it. He glanced over at Simon, who was intently listening and taking notes where necessary. Apparently she asked a question because Simon's hand shot into the air and he used some really big words in his answer. Alvin was bored and getting more bored as the time passed. He looked at the clock and realized there was still a half hour in class. He crossed his arms on his desk and groaned loudly. Simon gave him a look but quickly turned his attention back on the teacher.

Meanwhile, the teacher droned on and on. Alvin felt his eyelids become lead heavy, and laid his head on his arms, which were still crossed on his desk, with a sigh.

Alvin felt his mind drifting to what he wanted to do after school; ride his bike, go to the park, play some baseball with his brothers, maybe even climb a tree or two or three. But what he was really looking forward to was when Dave would call his name loudly in frustration. It always made Alvin laugh as he would yell "Okay!" back at Dave.

His eyes closed, Alvin smiled slightly. The teacher's voice seemed to get further and further away as Alvin drifted slowly into dreamland. His mind became more clear about what he was going to do, and he could almost hear his friends calling him to play with them. He slowly looked down and saw he held the ball. He grinned and tossed the ball to them and they began to dribble it across the court and almost into the hoop. Alvin wanted to play.

He was about to take a step towards them when suddenly, a sharp poke in his side awoke him. "Ah!" Gasping, he jerked bolt upright in his chair in class and quickly looked around, trying to see who had awoken him from his slumber. His sleepy blue eyes finally noticed Simon's intense grey orbs staring at him, his eyebrows furrowed. His mouth was pressed into a line and he had his pencil an inch away from Alvin, ready to poke him again. Alvin looked at Simon, then the pencil, then at Simon again before he snatched the sharp stick away from him and threw it onto the desk. Simon watched him with a dissatisfied face.

Alvin glared at Simon for a minute, but Simon turned back to the teacher and began taking notes again, as if nothing had happened. Alvin groaned as he had to listen to the monotone teacher once more.

I just hope I don't fall asleep again. Alvin thought as his eyes became droopy again.
