So apparently February is FAIRYFEBRUARY! Now I wonder why I only learned of this now!So Lumen-Niveus and I decided to do a little fairy trade for the occasion
And I can see we both went with the purple theme! I hope you like my take on Yüeven, I took some liberties
with his outfit but he was just too adorable to pass!

I can't help but to stop everything that i do to take a look at this awesome piece! I really love his design, how the lighting really captures his personality and ability and how vibrant it looks! First the design. I don't know if you have the artistic freedom regarding the design considering that it was an art trade (you did said in your description that you take some liberties so i guess you did) but i love it! It was a simple and effective design that simulates movement very easily. I do have some kind of question design wise tho, i do like his scarf but doesn't the existence of the scarf will mess up his pixie wings when he flies? i mean a fairy / pixie wings flapped so often when flying, i think the scarf will get tangled or messed up or vice versa. But then if he flies using pixie dust or not physic-bound (the wings will stay still but he still float / flies regardless) then i think it's fine. It's just a nitpick though so don't worry about it
I also love his pose, it tells me that this character is an agile fairy that's also powerful and cool. I can capture his personality very well in this pose too. I think the message you want to convey about this character is done nicely. I also love how you shade this character and how vibrant the lighting is! the lighting you did on his shin and arm according to the purple beam is also a very nice touch! lighting is probably one of my many weaknesses so is could definitely learn a thing or two from you from this pic!
If there's anything to add... i dunno. maybe the the line that separates the shoulder muscle and the chest muscle (Pectoralis major, i googled it xD) is kinda way too long or wasn't defined properly. it made it just a teeny weeny bit off. But once again that's just a nitpick, it was nothing major really xD

His original design was more of a "hoodie with loose jeans and a scarf" kind of style and I wanted to make it a bit more aerodynamic and suitable for a small delicate creature.
I think of the wings a bit more like a hologram but you do have a point! The scarf seemed an important element of his design so it would have to be included... but perhaps as shorter and kind of a tube-model with no hanging edges.
I love playing around with light and with this one I wanted to tried out a bit of a simpler approach to shading and I do enjoy it very much
I had to redo the pose a few times though - before I got it looking balanced enough XD the shoulder looked better in my sketch and I wonder how I didn't refine it better with the lineart hmm

Yeah you're right, I do think that his scarf is one of his vital design so i also do think removing it will ruin the creator's original vision, i also love your decision to design him this way to looked more proper to the fantasy fairy aesthetic and makes him look more agile. But if it's actually hologram (i do see many form of projected wings that don't actually flap so i said that if it's the case then it's no problem) then i think his scarf wouldn't be a problem. Anyway good job again

OK, it's kinda rare to see a male fairy... usually majority of the fairies I see in media/artworks are typically female, but whatever, let's go with it!
I like Yueven's appearance in general. He has a lot of hype to unleash~. I admire his clothes, he has some ninja-like clothing. I mean how much detail u put on his torso. That pretty looks nice! His gauntlets as well, has attention of detail. Very well done.
The bandage wraps on Yueven's shins look eyecatching as well, not to mention how much shading u added on each of the straps.
Anatomy-wise, well amazingly proportioned. The wings look highly amazing. Feels like u drew them from scratch instead of mirroring and skewing the position. Also, the effects look pretty nice, liked the lighting on the wand.
There's no concerns left for me to tell u, since I see a near-perfect masterpiece.
Overall very well done, u should be very happy with ur efforts. Oh, his appearance remindes me of Chipp Zanuff from Guilty Gear. After all, he's a ninja fairy!

Hi there!
I'm from Project Comment and this caught my eye! First off, WOW! The pose is so dynamic, with the 'leaping into action' effect as well as the look as if something very awesome and magical is about to happen! Secondly, I noticed the hands, and you did such a great job with them! As an artist, I can't draw hands very well myself, but always take notice when others so it well! Here, you drew them so accurately to reality which I think adds a dichotomy between realistic as well as magical in this piece! Speaking of magical, the wings and the wand create such a good vibe- sort of reminding me of Harry Potter! I love the detail in the way the magic aura from the wand is like lightning! It reinforces the idea that this character is powerful.
But, this is a critique and of course there are some things that could be focused on! I noticed the other commenter pointed out the shoulder, and I agree. Possibly erasing a few lines would help! It's a minor change there. Also, though the wings are very captivating, they don't really catch the light like how fluttery wings do. I'm not sure how to describe it, but maybe little sparkles of light could be added to create the 'fairy wing' style! Other than those points, this piece came out extraordinary and I have to say, it's stunning!

Believe it or not I had to redraw the pose a few times to get it work XD I'm so happy how it turned out!
The wings are actually more like holograms than traditional fairy wings - I did consider giving them some blurr effect as if they were in movement
but I just wanted to keep them all visible so I left that out.

Hello, I seen this on and wish to critique this.
The colour palette in this piece is really nice and works well as it gives of a nice calm feeling. In addition, the lighting looks really nice and smooth which is a nice thing to see as it gives the person/ object a little more depth in the piece. Also I like how the magic effect is circled around the character because it draws the eye in more to the character which it really good. Additionally, the magic effect and wings looks really nice and simple which is good as it isn't taking to much focus of the character itself. Finally, I like how you did the hair as it doesn't look static, which is a problem when artists try to attempt this sort of hair-style (myself included).
However I do have a few nitpicks. First you have a lovely mix of light and dark tones on the scarf, which pops out really nicely, but don't have that anywhere else, this makes the character look a little flat which is a little of putting to me. In addition the character left (our right) shoulder looks weird to me, like it looks more like a shoulder pad due to how you lined it; Also the shoulder should be roughly the same width of your arm, here is a link to show what I mean -----> www.pinterest.co.uk/pin/306104…. Additionally, I don't know whether the character is flying or not, if the character is, I suggest that the characters left foot should be pointed down like here-----> www.dreamstime.com/stock-illus…. Finally, and this is minor, but I would of like to of seen a little more emotion on the character's face. Is he happy? cocky? serious? I unsure because of how neutral the face looks.
Overall, a really good solid piece

I tried a bit of a new approach with the hair, I was a bit worried if it would turn out too blocky but I'm happy it looks good to others too.
I tend to use very high contrast in my coloring, here I tried to drift away from that a bit and go more simple. You're right about the shoulder though, noted!
I thought he'd be more like jumping rather than flying XD which would also work with the stopped position of the wings.
The neutral expression was based on his reference sheet, where I read the character appears very poker faced in most situations :3

I was inspired by the reference sheet of this OC (Yugioh fandom I suppose) - he had this purple shining magic
that I transformed into wings to match the design. I was thinking about holograms and technology combined with magic.

It gives me "Strange Magic" vibes, which makes it double cool. Dunno if you have seen that movie since it's pretty unknown where I live.

Yüven is a yugioh fan character so the magic you see is solid, as in you can touch it. I have no idea how you did it - but you captured that idea perfectly and turned it into wings. It's not just his magic style but his whole character build that you hit spot on.
Ooohoho! It's so rare that I see someone who knows it too xD It's one of the few "girly" love stories I enjoyed. The message in the end is nice too

I really like the style of tech-magic in your ref and figured it would make great wings and fun way to incorporate it into his fairy character - kinda with these hologram wibes.
Oooh I've been a fan for a while! Found it randomly and been plaguing my friends with it ever since XD it's one of those movies I go to whenever I need to cheer up.
The music is great, the ships are so cute, the jokes are funny... I can't see why one wouldn't love that movie!

I am still amazed how you managed to just nail his tech-magic down to perfection. Seriously, I fully expected nobody else to understand how it works and how it's supposed to look like but then you roll around and just do it easy as riding on a breeze! 
His magic is indeed based on holograms. Tho I have no idea how you could figure that out without knowing anything about his backstory or the fandom

Neither do I, but it's a lesser known movie so only a few people I know have seen it. Compared to mainstream media it's tiny even! Which is a real shame because - as you said - the ships are wonderful, it's funny without being cringy and the story is a spin on the old cliches.
That's why I've been recommending it whenever I can
