Description
Next up on the list, this is Fox and Vixen's son Friendly from the Animals of Farthing Wood series. Originally one of the most well-rounded and likeable fox characters in the books, turned into one of THE most butchered characters in the whole TV series. In the books, Friendly is given that name for a reason, he's kind, honest, not to mention he's the only one who stands up for his sister Charmer when the family finds out she's been meeting Ranger. In the TV series, he's the one who spills the beans to Fox, and is generally mean-spirited, arrogant and jealous of his brother Bold. He never gets a mate in the TV series as far as we know, and never really interacts with other characters.Friendly's role in the TV series is pretty much as a background character, he does very little throughout series 2, and only appears in one scene in series 3. His role in the books is more developed, especially in The Siege of White Deer Park, where he leads the group of foxes to battle the giant cat, resulting in the death of Bold's son. TV Friendly is very hard to like, although I suspect the tv company who made the series meant to to be that way to get more support for Bold. Such a shame, Friendly should have been so much more.
I think Friendly looks more like this mother than his father, and I think he has a nice tail (aren't I weird). That little tuft of fur on his head is cute, too.
I attempted a bit of a more traditional style with this one, Friendly is quite chubby in the TV series so I tried to bring that out rather than the leggyness of his sister Dreamer. Coloured with watercolours, as always. Although I made a schoolboy error with this picture, wonder if anyone can notice it...
Quote of Choice: "It is my duty to accompany you, Father." (Series 2)

Well I think the reason he only appears in one scene in Season 3 is simply because the people behind the animation saw that they changed his character to the point that he became unusable. Meeting Whisper proved it when he treated her like she couldn't be trusted. Maybe it would have been better for him to be present at Bold's death because he could have gained the same perspective on things as his father but instead he was left ruined.

Frienly was way too much of a daddy's boy for my taste.

Yay! Friendly is one of the better characters (as far as I can judge considering i only read half of Fox's Feud), but I'm happy to see him appear. You've got a pretty farthing foxes collection done now. Eager to see the rest

Thanks! Once I've got Charmer and Bold done, I can move on to the fun task of doing the Blue foxes (REALLY looking forward to that! )
