Description
First off, a few disclaimers. This is not against people who think killing animals (for meat or sport or anything else) is unethical; I RESPECT THEIR VIEWS. Being pro-life, I feel I somewhat understand where they are coming from, even though I am overtly carnivorous. If you really want to help animals, help stop animal abuse and abandonment by volunteering at your local animal shelter. Those places need the help.
This is for morons who jumped on the wolf bandwagon that is oh-so-popular on dA.
That being said, THIS IS A RANT. DO NOT READ IT.
Why is no one concerned about saving moose or black-footed ferrets?!? Why is it always stonking wolves?!?!?! Is it because you all think wolves are cool and to not come off looking like a ridiculous poseur (too late) is to be environmentally conscious about them?! OR IS IT BECAUSE THEY ARE SO PRETYY?!?!?! do we only want to save pretty delisted animals and the ugly ones can go to hell?!?!?!?! WHY DOES NO ONE CARE ABOUT THE MANATEES?!??!?!?!?!?
IF you have, in fact, seen about $ 500,000 worth of your livelihood get dismembered and all you got was a dinky government subsidy, then go ahead! Let’s talk about wolves!
IF, however, you are living the comfortable city life, miles away from those stinky things that become your Big Mac, please be quiet until you know what you are talking about.
And yeah, a prize bull/heifer is worth about that much.
I guess what I'm trying to say is that if you are going to treat animals like this, treat all animals equally. It's absolutely stupid to favor one species over the others based off appearance.
And remember that John Barasso (WY-R) once said of environmentalist groups (based out of NY, CA, and other place where there is actually very little environment) “They wouldn’t know a wolf if it bit them.”
Let the flames come! and don’t expect me to respond!
(o, and for the record, if you can top the insult “you put the c—t in country bumpkin, you will not win anything, but I will still reuse it)

Say what you will, wolves are not endangered. Their range in northern Eurasia and North America is safe, while only populations like indian wolves and iberain wolves are in danger and you wolfaboos don't anyway, just about the norhtern wolves.
Thus, its useless to even advertise in their protection, because you are only ignoring animals far more worthy than a bunch of canines dumber than pigs and crows

"Dumber than pigs or crows"?? Sounds like you're the kinda person I was just talking about, one who hates their guts. Wolves are among the smartest animals there are, and there is data to prove it.
Sure, there may be ample numbers halfway around the world, but if you don't live here, I'd keep quiet about North American wolf numbers. Just about the only place in the whole of the USA that wolves aren't threatened are Alaska and Minnesota, and the Alaskan government is making choices that WILL endanger wolves soon, unless they decide to change their policies.
If you do not wish to take the time to come up with a more civilized response, I will not waste my time replying to you.

Actully, wolves are kind of avarage in terms of intelligentce. Pigs and crows are indeed smarter.

"Wolves are among the smartest animals there are, and there is data to prove it."
Your ignorance is laughable. Pigs, cetaceans, cephalopods, elephants, rats, apes, parrots and crows are far more intelligent than wolves. By animal standards, wolves are average, not smart.
Wolves are still very common across the USA; if they are locally not very common is because they were either reintroduced recently, or because they aren't adapting well. Wolves are not going to be endangered any time soon, specially when there's their rabid fans spread all over the nation.
Please, do some research. Wolfaboo sites and shit do not provide reliable sources.

Like I said, I will not waste my time with you. I tried to be reasonable. I've been researching wolves for over seven years and have, in fact, worked closely with them, so I do believe I know what I'm talking about.
Before I leave you, please, do tell me your stance on the wolf as a species, everything else aside. I'm curious.

My stance is rather obvious: its a mere animal, and not a very special animal anyway, so its not like I care.

wolves are pack animals, so are humans to an extent, we like social animals that could remind us of ourselfs, and they seem to have captivating eyes. and I guess their howls are pretty too.
ferrets are 'weasels' to people, those bitey nippy, long, short legged creepy things that live in holes with musky smells. People don't see them self in the ferret, plus blackfoots aren't related to domestics (i think?)
a pack takes down the cow right? well the Cheetah has been blamed for killing cows but I don't think its posslbe to eat a huge bull, maybe 5 wolves can.
I have bears by me, they don't eat dairy cows, but one ate half a pony.
and our coyotes aren't attacking anything huge. I think. They never make the news.
The Pumas wil when they rebound.

Yeah, well the thing is that a good cow can fetch at least $500,000 and the government subsidies don't cover even a quarter of that.
The psychological aspect is an interesting one.

probelby thats the knowlage/wisdom/useless garbage i had gathered
'eople protect what they love'
i don't know if wolves have it worse than bats and sharks, i mean they must of been damn good and super abundant to wipe them out for livestock protection (or the livestock numbers were lower back then, before the medications/inoculations/antibiotics.
all i know is donky and llama make good live stoc protectors, because they won't bite your 'crop'. Feral dogs will and half breeds.
are wolves getting less shy?

They aren't endangered... AT ALL.
There are some animals going extinct because of the 13-year-old emo's, can only yell "SAVE THE WOLVEZZZ!1!1one!1!1"

Silverwolf-1ofmany In reply to Omi-Kat [2009-12-06 07:14:49 +0000 UTC]
That conservation status is a load of grade-A BUNK. I don't know who sets that standard or why they think it's accurate, because it sure as hell isn't. Anyone can perform the simple research to find that wolves occupy only about one-fifth their original range around the world.
Actually, I'm really beginning to believe it is a certain editor that hasn't done his research...DX

Hell yeah!
We can't SURVIVE without bee's. They pollinate our plants, and without them, a large portion of our food will be destroyed.
They are randomly disappearing, and it costs thousands of dollars an hour, to hand-pollinate plants.
I don't see any SAVE THE BEE'S shirts, or conventions.
