Description
First off, a few disclaimers. This is not against people who think killing animals (for meat or sport or anything else) is unethical; I RESPECT THEIR VIEWS. Being pro-life, I feel I somewhat understand where they are coming from, even though I am overtly carnivorous. If you really want to help animals, help stop animal abuse and abandonment by volunteering at your local animal shelter. Those places need the help.
This is for morons who jumped on the wolf bandwagon that is oh-so-popular on dA.
That being said, THIS IS A RANT. DO NOT READ IT.
Why is no one concerned about saving moose or black-footed ferrets?!? Why is it always stonking wolves?!?!?! Is it because you all think wolves are cool and to not come off looking like a ridiculous poseur (too late) is to be environmentally conscious about them?! OR IS IT BECAUSE THEY ARE SO PRETYY?!?!?! do we only want to save pretty delisted animals and the ugly ones can go to hell?!?!?!?! WHY DOES NO ONE CARE ABOUT THE MANATEES?!??!?!?!?!?
IF you have, in fact, seen about $ 500,000 worth of your livelihood get dismembered and all you got was a dinky government subsidy, then go ahead! Let’s talk about wolves!
IF, however, you are living the comfortable city life, miles away from those stinky things that become your Big Mac, please be quiet until you know what you are talking about.
And yeah, a prize bull/heifer is worth about that much.
I guess what I'm trying to say is that if you are going to treat animals like this, treat all animals equally. It's absolutely stupid to favor one species over the others based off appearance.
And remember that John Barasso (WY-R) once said of environmentalist groups (based out of NY, CA, and other place where there is actually very little environment) “They wouldn’t know a wolf if it bit them.”
Let the flames come! and don’t expect me to respond!
(o, and for the record, if you can top the insult “you put the c—t in country bumpkin, you will not win anything, but I will still reuse it)

ok yes other animals need help too but wolves need help.... sure they may be doing better then pandas but some people have wolves as their favorite animals. my favorite animal just happens to be wolves... i'm not obsessed about helping them but i would like to. they are dying too. i love ferrets by the way and i would like to help them too but some people don't have that kind of money. and if you don't like hearing about wolves you should start a thing about helping other animals... i mean everyone is obsessed with global warming and dying polar bears, and also pandas, i mean i've seen way more shirts with pandas and recycling then with wolves. infact i can't find any wolf shirts at well known stores. so maybe you should complain about them too. and i guess i understand where you are coming from because it does get annoying just like how people keep talking about twilight and some of the people haven't even read all the books, they just say the movie, and if you ask me the movie was craptastic. so i would recommend making a stamp about that. lols. sorry these are just my opinions... hope you understand...

Wikipedia. :\
I'm making 'such a big deal about it' because I hate it when animals become extinct.

well i looked on wikipedia and the only wolf that came up, at first, was the grey wolf which is doing fine ( not a surprise) but next i checked the mexican wolf and i saw this: "In 1976, the Mexican Wolf was declared an endangered subspecies and has remained so ever since. Today, an estimated 300 Mexican Wolves survive in 49 facilities at the United States and Mexico." and i found this on a different site: "in 2007 the number of Red Wolves continues to rise, but only slightly each year. The animal is considered to be critically endangered and still in need of great assistance."
so maybe you should have checked more than one type of wolf.
( yes there is more than just the grey wolf) sure it isn't as extreme as the other animals like manatees or panadas, but they still are endangered.
well you should hate it when animals become extinct, because more are heading that way every day.

well they are being vermin status but dingos, being dogs can breed with other dogs, so all dog-dogs are crossing with them.
ethiopian wolves look like giant fox-coyotes, look them up
[link]
a plushie one. MUST haveee
[link]
but they might be their own type of dog, or realted to jackles and not wolves
Canis simensis(ethiopian)
canis lupus(grey wolf)
whoever wrote the wiki entry says there are 550 adults. and its a canid, not canine.
Canidae has wolves, foxes, jackals, coyotes, domestic dogs.
Canines
learn your classifycations of animals, be smart, be learned! tell people a fox is a canid but not a dog, and the racoondog is neither a dog or racoon but canid, canid

I agree.
I'm tired of hearing about wolves. I've always found them to be overrated anyway(like waaay overrated).
Don't get me wrong, I love wolves too, but I hate seeing far more interesting and endangered species getting overshadowed by them just because they may not be as "beautiful" or "elegant".
Such as the many endangered reptile species(which I find to be more beautiful than wolves anyway).
It also seems that people are more interested in protecting wolves than they are orangutans . Can you believe that there's about 1750 stamps on wolves and only 9 on orangutans? :/
Oh eh...I seem to have gone into a little rant of my own .

CurlyHairedDemon In reply to ThePookaPrince [2009-08-13 14:06:31 +0000 UTC]
and, as I understand it, orangutans are in a lot more trouble than wolves, who are repopulating themselves nicely.

oh i see.
can you have them with a salvage permit for game? so if one dies by a car or somethihng, you can skin and tan it?
make it life size, you can get $300+. that is the price a wolf normaly goes for.

CurlyHairedDemon In reply to Kuwaizair [2009-11-06 16:17:04 +0000 UTC]
idk much about permits, I'd have to ask the game warden, but if you hit a moose, unless you have an enormous truck, I think the hide is the LAST thing you need to worry about xD

oh i meant if you run over a wolf. do a good job and for it tanned you can get 300+ dollars. that is the common price for wolf pelts.
or make someone's day and sell cheaper.
