I go crazy when an author becomes mean to the main characters for no reason, I'm guessing he does that right?

Todd McCaffrey is Anne McCaffrey's son, the original author of the Pern books. She's handed the series over to him and it seems as if he delights in torturing his main characters. In his latest book he killed the protagonist's Gold dragon before they even got to fly together. It was so needless and horrible.

I agree. He's just trying to keep his mother's empire alive and capitalize on it, but all good book series have to end sometime, and it should end with Anne not Todd. Plus his writing is just awful.
