I know its a bit weird, but everything about K'mlar and Zarinth has been. My reasoning is that the sexy tension between K'mlar and J'lantir was effecting her to the point where she just couldn't wait till morning.

That is true. Not only do dragons affect their Riders, but Riders can affect their dragons. I know it was explored in the books that if a GoldRider really wanted a certain BronzeRider to win, she could possibly convince her Gold to choose that Bronze or move closer to him.
