Very interesting podcast! I liked your commentary on the comix scene and your artistic background. I always loved reading comics, and I recently started to learn more about comics as an "underground" thing, so this podcast was informative to me. I remember reading a lot of Crumb's works in primary, your art always reminded me of him.Β
It was cool hearing about how you got into comics and art. Kinda weird hearing you talk though, I keep forgetting you're not American!
Edit: You sound like you'd be a pleasant person to have a beer and a chat with.

Beautiful accent you have. A recognizable Scottish accent. It reminded me of Scottish celebrities like Kevin McKidd and Kirsty Strain.

correct me if im wrong, but is this an older interview of yours from 2018?
(because i think i've heard such an interview before, it was great)
either way, your voice is beautiful curt, and i really like your scottish accent. (its very cool)
plus, your insight about the history of comics and your knowledge about art, comics and different art-styles is truly impressive.
i also enjoyed your insight about the comic scenes of the 80's+90's until today.
you have experienced many things in the wild environment of the artist's scenes/conventions+in the comic makers work, and your experience is truly visible, both by the high skills of your artwork, and by your deep knowledge of the art+comic's world.
(the saddest part was the intense rivalries between artists in all those communities. people shouldnt compete against each other, imho, but i guess that it is how it is.)
i admire your deep knowledge+your art skills once again curt, and i wish the best for you.
this was a great interview.
stay awesome!

I had no idea that you had THIS surmountable amounts of experience in the Comic industry (especially in the late 80s, early 90s!)! Listening to this podcast is actually quite informative, and insightful! Truth be told, Zombies to me are so overdone-I mean what's wrong with it's real-life equivalent: Leprosy? It is zombie-like as a flesh-rotting disease that doesn't get much love (outside The Bible).
Regardless, I enjoyed listening to the interview. Unlike Andrew Dobson, you have actually proven yourself as an individual who has seen it all as an artist: all the highs, all the lows, and all the quirks-whether it was Art School or selling comics! Color me impressed! Keep it up, and do not stop doing what it is you enjoy doing!
Oh, and P.S., I hate to sound "autistic", but I always thought your Cthulhu character puts me EVERSO MUCH into the mind of Sheldon J. Plankton from Spongebob... maybe it is the giant eye, and the color scheme but who knows. :/

So I just finished hearing your interview and I must say, you have nice sexy Scottish voice.
It also shows that your a really cool guy and not some 'asshole' that everyone makes you out to be just because they judged your art. It just shows you can't always judge a book by a cover.

Bravo, good sir! That was one hell of an interview! I especially enjoyed the overall themes of staying true to one's self and perservering to kindle the embers of a burgeoning talent. I do agree with the sentiment that today everyone wants instant, microwave success; work has become a four-letter word. And I do agree that with internet access and online personas, everyone get trapped in their own little echo chambers. This is not good, as it separates you from humanity. If you're going to do that, then at least do what Thoreau did and run to a cabin deep in the wilderness sans the accoutrements of modern living.Β
And I can't believe some of your experiences at conventions. I mean, sheesh! ... it's like you're Salmon Rushdie! That one guy who kept giving you the death eye because he saw your Pega Mega adventures on display needs to chill out. It's "My Little Pony" not an Abrahamic religion (and when you think about it, even that is silly to get pissed off over).Β
Overall, you sounded like a man who's very candid and honest about their craft. Not someone like, say, Quentin Tarantino who stops to take a breath to huff his own farts. I think I speak for everyone here when I say that you come across as very sincere and genuine is discussing comics and art.
I think it's cool, a lot of your ideas are similar to Bill Waterson's. He wanted to elevate newspaper comic strips to something of artistic merit. They don't have to be slam-bam action spandex all the time [see also Art Spiegelman's "Maus"].
All in all it was fun listening to your um.... Swedish?..... Finnish accent? In any case, don't feel bad. I sound like a slightly annoyed HAL 9000.
And here's to more enriching comic madness in the future!Β Β Β
