I'm gonna sit this one out because not only does the movie sound like a convoluted mess from a storytelling perspective, I heard it takes a giant shit on Vader's redemption arc and everything Luke fought for in the OT. There's also the fact that because of how rotten the Disney company has been in recent years, I don't want to give them my hard-earned money.

Palpatine's survival and return pretty much undoes Vader's redemption and Luke's hero's journey. Palpatine was never supposed to be in the trilogy no matter how much Abrams and Lucasfilm are saying it was planned all along.
In the end, the blame falls on Kathleen Kennedy and her so-called story group, Bob Iger, Abrams, and Johnson for the mess of a trilogy that we received and were labeled as the worst kinds of people when we called them out on the shit storytelling.

Critics liked The Last Jedi while Fans hated it, yet they hated Rise Of Skywalker while Fans loved it. It's so confusing! I'll probably just watch it on Disney+ to give my full opinion.

Critics and people who love Rian Johnson are angry because Rise of Skywalker pretty much retcons nearly everything that happened in the previous movie, making it even more worthless as a Star Wars film. It's pretty much Abrams' 'Fuck You' to Johnson, since Johnson's film is pretty much a 'Fuck You' to the Force Awakens.
In terms of storytelling, most fans do not like the Rise of Skywalker and the trilogy as the whole, though Force Awakens seems to be the most well-received among fans. However, we do see parts where the movie is good, but it highlights the wasted potential and lost opportunity that came from this entire shit show.
