I was really disappointed when the reviews starting coming in for this film. This really should have been The Return of the King equivalent for the series. Instead it was an exercise in cynical marketing and spite for the source material. All the screenwriting 101 no-nos were in place, from clone bodies to illogical reveals in bloodlines. Don't even get me started on how this film furthers the notion of making the original trilogy even more trivial and frivolous. I guess the lesson here is that evil can always clone itself and prevail in the end. A subtle hint at the business model of Mousecorp?
For better or for worse, Star Wars was one of the defining watermarks for pop culture. To see it peter out and collapse in on itself is just very sad.
