Cool design. Functional yet 'wacky'.
But what's with that 'thermal engine'? Some kind of steam engine? A non-ICE chemical reactor?

It's a kind of internal combustion engine with multiple slow burners in the periphery and a rotary gas expansion cylinders inside not very different to the pistons in a rotary swashplate (barrel type) engine.
