Description
interpol and louis xiv were part of the PSP Factory party in hollywood last week.you can see almost the entire band with the exception of the drummer.
i think drummers almost always get left out. dunno why. photographically ... they're so uninteresting most of the time.
game developers. hollywood a-listers. hangers-on. the hollywood gamut.
but ... i got to see interpol.
in fact, i'm listening to interpol as i write this.
personally, i love lens flare. the real thing. not the bullshit filter in photoshop.
leica m6 ttl. 35mm/1.4 ASPH at 1.4. 1/250th. ilford delta 400 (normal)

you and your leica and lens did a great job again. amazing tonal range considering the difficult light conditions.
and the band - hm, a bit anemic musically. but that's only my personal taste [duck + run]

well, i am listening to the album Antics right now and still find it a bit anemic. these slow beats and calculated riffs (remind me of stuff from the 60ies) and Brian-Ferry-like chant...
guess, live it is different and a tad more vivid.
i prefer it more grungy.
cheers, Chris.

i really like the depth of field in this one and how the posistioning of the band members draws your eyes in i would like it even more if it was a little less grainy but what ever
the lights rocks too

One of the coolest bands around - taken by one of the coolest photographers around... what more could I ask for?
Personally I've always loved concert shots... maybe it's that longing to go see more shows.
However, now that classes are done, it's game on!

really depends upon the stage light.
i'm usually at iso 400/800.
i like to be wide open and at least 1/60th.

great shot. love how you used stage light.
btw, drummers are not photographically uninteresting, usually, they are unapproachable. one can do them only from the stage.

I love Interpol. And that photo certainly does them justice. Do you have a M7? I have a few Leicas myself and was wondering which one you prefer.

thank you so much.
m7? no. i think it's a waste of time. i'm an mp fan. i don't use auto-anything ... so ... the m7 doesn't really "work" for me.
which leica's you got?
also ... very nice gallery you have!
enjoyed checkin' it out!
cheers mate,
Chris

Let's see... I have a few doubles because I just inherited some, but I have an AG, M2, M3, M6, M7, and an MP. You can see a few if you go to my "scraps" gallery. I have the vintage Rollei in there too.
Do you agree that the world is just, well, clearer through a Zeiss lens?

damn, mate! that's amazing. i have a couple mp's and an m6 and a soon-to-be-acquired m4. glass ... 21mm thru 90mm of all the fastest leica has to offer ...
i think the world is clearer thru leica glass; i think zeiss' lens and glass formulations are a bit contrasty for me. just personal taste.
love the old rollei as well mate!
you should join [link]
i'll let you in.
cheers,
chris

Ok, how do I join Leica? I'd love to contribute.
I don't think you remember, but about a week or two ago, I e-mailed you about being a photographer and how to break into the business. You gave me a lot of advice, and I uput some if to use. I now got a job as an assistant during college. If you didn't know, I'm a senior in high school and I'm going to Marquette University in Milwaukee next year. Anyways, I took your advice, and it paid off! I'm an assistant now, and I'd like to thank you.

I tried photographing this incredible drummer once. And he played fast and had such energy. The photograph made him look asleep and bored. Was strange.
I like how this came out. Here's a question... is there ever a time when using a flash is necessary? I've been trying to only use available lightling

in a good band, no member is left out. however, in photos I do agree you're usually asking yourself where the drummer is. and we know where he is - at the drums! (duh) basically making the song. without the drummer, a good song doesn't sound quite the same. especially something like Interpol.
Great shot. too bad for the drummer. poor guy. Hopefully he got some panties thrown at him...or something.

i dunno...i find the bassist is left out the most. i've found some good anlge of drummers...especially ones that thrash, and a time lapse on a big shiny drum kit can look awesome in the right lighting with something sturdy to rest your camera on. nice job

whoa man, is his nose for real?
drummers with their drum sets actually look pretty cool in my op. all those circles, and usually flailing about all blurry like.
ah, I like how the keyboardist is arched under the lights.

What would you say - would it be possible to imitate the typical leica look with a Canon EOS ?

*twitches* theres no energy in drumers?!?! theve got the most physicle instrament. do you know hwo hard it is to keep a steady drumbeat....its like running a mile while still being on beat. but yea i do see what you mean about how they are to photgraph. there so absorbed in what there doing that they can't really look as good as the rest of the band. My drummer always looks alseep. and i apoligive if i sound mean...
and btw the photograph is amazing as is all your work...
