Description
Completed patch:I get a lot of questions lately on how my patches are made. This is part of the process of my latest embroidery work to give you a rough idea.
Yes, I have to switch the colours myself.
1. First 3 colours done
2. Red and dark grey added
3. Doing the red on the tail
4. Embroidery completed, most stray thread removed

this is really great, i havent seen someone making custum ones so far.
if you dont mind i still have some questions
the first thing is;is it a special sewing machine you use for that ,or can a normal one be able to do this?
second question coming up to me, what kind of fabric is this made on so that you can boil it on the clothes?(or do you have to sew it)
last thing is how do you see where to to put the color, since you dont have the borders from this side?
or do i get the whole thing wrong xD iΒ΄d be glad if you find the time to answer.
i would order one probably ,but im heavily saving up this year, also i just had the thought even tho i fail with sewing plush, i might be able to learn this

No I don't mind explaining It was a completely new experience for me as well when I just got into it.
Yes, it's a special sewing machine with embroidery function. The machine came with a metal mechanism that you have to install yourself so you can alter the machine from a sewing machine into an embroidery machine. For a normal sewing machine this is not possible. It also comes with a area that contains the hidden machinism to move the table around (the needle doesn't move around, only the table as you can see here: [link]
These particular patches are made on felt without any other fabric used. So yes, they are sew-on. I'm trying to find supplies to make it possible to iron them on with heat but that proves to be harder to find than I expected. So for now all my patches are sew-on.
I don't have to really know exactly where what color needs to be That's the great thing about an auto embroidery machine nowadays. They are equipped with digital functions and the machine can more or less read the pattern I want it to make with a usb port. These patterns are stitching patterns that are created with a software specially made for the machine. Through small pictures showing up on the machine's digital screen I can see the sewing order. The pattern is 'disected' into parts, each a different color.
Of course I do need to know when to use what colour. Most of the time I can remember since I create my own patterns, but if I have doubts I just look at the file on my computer. The machine will stop when I need to change colors and will then continue with said color. As long as you don't accidently shift the hoop or shut down the machine it will always know where to continue.
Embroidering is a lot of fun and I definitely could recommend it to anyone However, it's a big investment as well and not a cheap hobby considering the thread and proper software is rather expensive. Commissions help me afford my supplies so think carefully before you decide to purchase one ^^

thank you very much! this makes some things clearer to me. Its a really great thing and for you its definately worth it since oyu are sewing so much :3 for me it wouldnt xD but hey i got a neat button machine. IΒ΄m also mostly saving up for my art stuff, but currently for a suit, which is pretty hard when i cant work and earn money.hope i make it somewhen, its just very hard not to spend anyhting for something else. I bet your machine was extremely expensive. its just great, maybe i can make my sona somewhen and order it from you :3 could you possibly tell me how much a patch of him would cost? hes not a very complicated character but has some colors. [link] xD rather crappy picture but i have no great examples currently

I'm glad I could help English is not my native tongue so I sometimes find it hard to explain things properly
The price of a patch depends on the design and size of the image you send me. You can find some more information here: [link]

would you take a patch commission? if so how much?

CyanFox3 In reply to anotherclichejrocker [2013-01-21 11:30:37 +0000 UTC]
Depending on the image you have in mind, yes I could make you a custom patch. The price depends on the image itself, the amount of colours and the size. I can make 10cm x 10cm patches max.

I like your original fox designs [link] just with 6 tails all in the color of the rainbow. X3. A White fox.

CyanFox3 In reply to anotherclichejrocker [2013-01-21 20:42:08 +0000 UTC]
That can be arranged ^^ Completely white? Or light silver like the design above? And with the tails do you mean each tail a different colour? Or each tail in full rainbow?
And what color do you want me to make the eyes/fox fire? (they're made so they match colours)

anotherclichejrocker In reply to CyanFox3 [2013-01-27 06:03:08 +0000 UTC]
Sorry it took so long to get back. I like the silver design just add 5 tails each the color of the rainbow. 6 colors total. Purple blue green yellow orange Red. Eyes Gold. Just let me know how much and ill get the money to you asap. Thankyou~!

The patches are looking really good! What software are you using if you don't mind my asking? I'm looking at a few programs but am not sure what to invest in.

Thanks! I use PE-design 7.0. It's an older version but since It's a software made originally for brother it works pretty good.
