Following the death of Norman Osborne aka Green Goblin, his assistant CEO Donald Menken fills in as the new CEO of Oscorp. However, Menken feels that he could gain more respect than Norman ever did. This led to him recovering some of the Green Goblin's technology and weapons and retooling them to his liking and repurposing the Green Goblin prototype suit to become the mentally unhinged successor to the Green Goblin, The Hobgoblin!
