That would have been funny only much later. (As it is, it's funny NOW.)

My creator says that this is funny and that line that Liara said Grunt says that in ME 2.

That never happens enough in stories - but seen it in life (well, not that, obviously). Characters just completely losing their shit in the middle of a stressful situation, and then calming down and saying "sorry, had to get that out."

aethyta would be so proud of her little girl
i wished something like that would've happen when shep and liara faced the shadow broker
that would've made LotSB even more awesome as it already is.

well, I think that's sad, but... realistic. sure, it's video game, so it may feel insulting when a player couldn't get something; but as a character she won't be herself if she surrenders to sudden romantic feelings after centuries of, well, her life.

Haupmann In reply to CyberII [2012-10-11 08:06:51 +0000 UTC]
Realistic in a way, for real life, perhaps, but you're Commander 'Everything wants to sleep with you' Shepard. Its always a possibility.
Plus it wouldn't be sudden, i mean i really liked how it ended up in the paragon route of ME2, and theres no real reason it couldn't have been built on after that. Especially after saving her daughter, stopping her commit suicide and again, being Commander Shepard should get you somewhere. After all, the code does not forbid romantic involvement.

don't remind me, Shepard beats annual rates of Mar(t)y-Sueistics during the very first half of ME3
lots of things in ME3 do not make sense. at all.

Well yeah, i maintain its because it was kind of half arsed.
Rannoch and Tuchanka, good.
The first bit on Earth, the crucible(aka the deus ex machina with a 0% success rate), kai leng, Priority: Earth and the endings, then the Extended cut endings.
And harbinger, who i miss.

well, I hurt my hand facepalming at three general points - whole Earth-centric Alliance let the Reapers fleet land on top of their head unnoticed;
few Cerberus squads suddenly causing lots of trouble at the territory of a race with the strongest goddamn intelligent service in the Galaxy;
and on the anti-top of my chart is, of course, the passionate speech about honor, sacrifice and necessity to accomplish the mission at all costs... in front of TURIANS!
for crying out loud, is it Shepard's aura making everyone blind, dumb and out-of-character everywhere s/he appears?

Haupmann In reply to CyberII [2012-10-12 00:52:01 +0000 UTC]
Yeah that was odd, no one said 'Yo, reapers in the solar system guys, probably time to go.'
Cerberus did get a sudden jump in resources. I mean they have a fleet! Where did they get a fleet from?
Yeah, well, i'm not sure what to say to that either, i usually picked paragon speeches
Well my top is the 'plan'(i use the term loosely) to launch the assault on earth. Okay, i'm no expert in space warfare, but i've played enough Homeworld to know a frontal assault on things that outgun you and are incredibly tough is a terribad idea. I mean screw earth, throw some asteroids at it
And that only half of who you recruit show up if you get maximum resources. Still waiting on the geth, batarians, volus, elcor, aria's fleet, etc etc.
Second is the almost complete lack of thanix cannons. When they're supposedly everywhere.
I actually have a really big list.

CyberII In reply to Haupmann [2012-10-12 01:01:05 +0000 UTC]
on Thanix cannons - there's not enough turians left to properly calibrate them
I can add some things to my list as well, but I think after those three nothing more impressed me in a bad way that much...

Haupmann In reply to CyberII [2012-10-12 12:21:54 +0000 UTC]
Pff, lol.
Yeah, i'm betting most people wouldn't have become so critical of ME3 if it ended well. I know i didn't really pick up anything bad initially, i thought some things odd, but was willing to run with it.

not sure about myself - i'm not a fan of happy endings, so I think the hero should finally get what s/he deserves for trying to break his/her neck that hard. I'm okay with dramatic and tragic part, the plot holes and story lines cut short are the things which annoy me.
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
Haupmann In reply to CyberII [2012-10-13 08:40:58 +0000 UTC]
Happy really depends on a person's preference. If say, Shepard did HAVE to die, for whatever reason, but saved the galaxy in a non-crappy way and like, liara was pregnant and in those ending slides we see her and two little asari a few years later, that would be fine for me.
Fair enough, and i'm not sure if it could be called plot hole/s at this point. I like to refer to it as the plot singularity. That's kai lame's job title too.
I also did say if it ended well, not happy, just properly. But killing myself so i'm allowed to win, either killing an entire race, making an ai of myself which may or may not screw everything up or using magic to do...whatever synthesis is. Is just terrible.
Which is odd, the drama in tuchanka was really well done, i thought. Rannoch too(although it lacked kal reegar and legion's sacrifice doesn't make a whole lot of sense)

CyberII In reply to Haupmann [2012-10-13 10:06:21 +0000 UTC]
yeah, I meant almost the same. Couldn't care less about the babies, but I worked my ass off to make quarians and geth live peacefully, I lost my fav walking flashlight there - and all I get was to destroy the geth as the only ending that makes sense?
I can explain that in a very mundane way - the developers had no time to finish the game properly; probably even the story writers. ME3 as it was released is a playable demo; trust me on this, I worked in video games industry for several years.

Haupmann In reply to CyberII [2012-10-14 12:13:24 +0000 UTC]
It was an example, many many people thought that was Liara's 'gift' or whatever that strange sequence was. Cuz Shepard can basically overcome anything(aside from plot armoured characters and bad writing). Many people wanted/want quarian babies too. Which would be a much more difficult issue by itself.
Yeah even then, the only ending that really makes sense, doesn't at a lot of points. You're not really told how to destroy the reapers, you see an image, which may or may not mean starkid has psychic powers, you shoot a tube(which doesn't make any sense, to use this you have to blow up part of it!) and you walk INTO the explosion. And then you can survive, somehow.
I would agree. part of ME3 had tons of polish and were really fun and other parts, not naming any names, Priority: Earth, played really badly, but i'm not naming any names am i, worst endings ever, no i'm not doing that. And the romances...geez, only one that was properly done was Liara's, and shes the only one to have a proper romance scene. That fade to black stuff with about 80% of the others was not cool with me.
You might be right, but i wish they would say that, or have taken the time to do it properly. I would not have minded waiting another 3 or so months.

yeah, the superior technology which require shooting it to work...
since Liara's a screenwriter's favorite, I'm no surprised.

I still remember my very first run through ME2, and my first trip to Ilium. Right after she told me that her father was a krogan who fought in the Rachni Wars, and that her mother fought in the Krogan Rebellions, I immediately set my controller down and said to myself, "Oh, man. This is going to be AWESOME."
AND IT WAS. EVERY. SINGLE. TIME.
