**WARNING, MASS EFFECT: ARRIVAL, SPOILER**So Anyone else a little disturbed about how calm and collected Shepard is after pulling the plug on an entire Batarian solar system???
I mean sure no one really likes Batarians. They are the assholes of the galaxy, next to reapers, but still. YA KILLED AN ENTIRE SOLAR SYSTEM WITH A RACE OF PEOPLE THATS PROLLY GOIN TO RESULT IN A GALACTIC WAR. I think I made my point.
So this lil comic, ripped right from the pages of my sketchbook, is my reaction to the destruction and how i think Shepard would have reacted.

So I'm not the only one that felt that my Shepard would fall apart after this. Especially since he had done sooooo much right beforehand.

After I completed arrival, my Shepard dealt with his problem by going to every bar and drink to those planets and systems destroyed by the Relay.

sorry, it was kind of a random moment. it would have been hilarious if shepard actualy said that, then blew up the sr2 with her lazor.

The justification is that they would have died when the Reapers arrived in thirteen minutes, but yeah, still a big thing to do. On the plus side, it's gonna be wicked cool to see how Bioware gets your ass out of this one.

Even though she hated them for attacking her homeworld, my fem Shepard she never wanted to see them all killed.

I believe that Shepard would have accepted it, maybe not as stoicly as shown, but hey, there's still Mass Effect 3 for Shepard to have guilt.
When it comes down to it, Shepard (usually) knows that "The needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few", just like Star Trek II. (Paragon) Shepard knew that even though it was likely that many humans could lose their lives (and did) trying to save the Destiny Ascension & the Council, it was necessary to keep the Galactic Community united after the Seige of the Citadel. And here, Shepard knew that even the lives of over 300,000 batarians couldn't measure up to the whole of the entire Galaxy if the Reapers managed to use the Alpha Relay.

Actually it's really easy to dehumanize such event when you don't see the repercussions yourself. Those 300k Batarians stopped being people and became statistic, like Stalin said kill one person it's a murder, kill a million it's a statistic. Shepard didn't see them die, didn't even intend them to die he was stopping the Reapers, it's like hearing about Tsunami victims in Asia - over 200k people died there, but it's such a massive number you can't grasp it. I think that's what happened to Shepard. But hey I'm defending Shepard's position in a DLC which plot didn't even make much sense, so it's probably a lost cause. Anyway, the comic is really well drawn. I like Shepard expression on the last panel. One can easily see the emotions running through her head.

Your comic fits well with what I think Shepard felt internally, however I liked that she remained calm outwardly in the DLC. As a commanding officer it's her job to keep it together, and she took responsibility for her actions (well, in my playthrough, anyway). As the US Marines say, "we are consumate professionals", and Shep always shows that. Love the intensity of your artwork, though. I really get a feel for her emotional state in that last panel. Very intense.

I know, not enough emotion was displayed in my opinion. That's why I felt like I needed to write about it as well.

Thanks. I writers definitely jumped on board and got their Shep's emotions flowing. But I don't know what happened to us artist... I guess most of us just kinda over looked it. I'll have to check out your story.
