Full view please. :3Now that I finally finished the picture for the exchange, it's back to business as usual, kinda. I got requests piling up and I also should be working on the comic project.
This picture took a lot more time to color than I thought it would be. Ordon goats actually look more like cows to me, but they're still darn cute (and stupid... How else do you explain them attacking wolf Link when all the other animals can recognize him as something NOT wolf). I tried to add more textures like the previous piece [link] which seemed to work ok here. Of course, again, when I reduced the image to web-friendly size, a lot of the details disappeared.
This picture was extremely memory intensive, and PS crashed/stopped responding more often than I could count even with the 1 gig of memory in the computer.

Hahahaha, since Link doesn't have a dog or a cat for a pet, he might have a pet goat instead. XD

Whooooooooooooa the textures. I've never used textured brushes before but this kinda makes me want to try them out.

Thanks~ Texture brushes are pretty fun, but they're a bit of a pain to work with so right now I just stick to a couple of brushes. I still like the default round brushes the most. Hahaha. I'm so glad you liked how I shaded the goat's head because I put quite a bit of effort into that part though the horn is still wonky looking.
Me too, Link with hat is better than Link without hat. I think he looks like he's sporting a mullet and the hat covers that up. *shudders* Next big picture will be Link in green again and eventually I'll have to draw Link in magic armor to finish up the project. First, I gotta work on your pics and the meme sketches. LOL.

Sory about the slow reply, but oh so true about what you wrote. He should smile more because he looks so good, but with the weight of the world on his shoulders, no wonder he's so serious most of the time. Heheh.

its okay~~~~ i know but sometimes hes hot when hes serious but toooooooo cute when he smiles. when i did my nyu meme pic i did him serious to smiling, thats my favorite panel i did. @W@ well if he wasnt serious enough he wouldnt be so noble yah?. ^_^

Wow, I just keep staring at the details... There is so much beaty in this picture. The lighting is so soft and nice, I especially like Link's hair. The many strokes and the almost white parts work perfectly together. I'm also admiring the anathomy, how you use the light to show the shapes of his neck and arm. The hands are brilliant, and I almost said "Yeey! Triforce!" when I first saw them! 
I gotta fav this, keep up the wonderful work!

The goats are awesome, dumb but awesome. The wrestling was fun and I wish you can round them up more than twice in the game. At least you can still go back to the ranch and pet them. XD

You can round them up! You just have to talk to the ranch guy (forgot his name) while riding on Epona! He'll even give you a piece of heart!
No problem, writing is so much fun! And yeah, shading... My art teacher always told me I was to scared when it came to shading. She recomended that you draw the same picture twice, once as you like it, and the second time you can do experiments and go all out. I imagine it would be even easier on the computer. I seldom do that, though, since I'm always so happy each time I finish something that I'm to lazy to do it again.
Once I took croquis classes. You really learn a lot, but since it was the only thing we did ever, I quit after one year. I hope you can find some good classes, it sounds really fun!

I did the round up mini-game. It's too bad that after the second time that you can't play the game anymore.
Your teacher's advice is great, and I should try that some time. Years ago when I was learning to do cross hatching, I would photocopy my lineart and then do the shading on the copy. Now I don't bother to do that since I'm lazy. Hm, come to think of it, I remember reading in some instructional book that you can make lots of copies and then experiment with coloring and stuff.

Yeah, me too! They're so adorable, but too bad you don't get to see/interact with them too often in the game. I think there are some hanging out in the castle town.

Hehehe, I actually didn't like Midna at all in the beginning but her personality grew on me after a while. She's a pretty interesting character and I like how her attitude about the people in the light world changed as the story progressed.

Yeah! I finally got passed it. Now I'm trying to keep the Goron from knocking me off the mountain. =\ I already got my sumo lessons and the iron boots from the mayor...but I still can't win. I haven't felt this pathetic since I was about seven.

Oh, so where are you now in game? Did you get pass the Gorons? If I remember correctly, when he starts to approach/roll to you, you put on the iron shoes and then try to throw him off like how you did with the run away goats back in Ordon village.

Oh! I remember taking a week-long break of something because I kept falling into the lava. After you get passed the first room, there aren't as many lava pits. Thank goodness!

I finally discovered textured brushes in PS. XD It makes coloring fur a lot easier than my previous method.
I haven't really thought much about doing a PS tutorial because I'm still learning the process (and I'm lazy). Plus, there are lots of tutorials out there already. I wouldn't mind posting WIPs though if I bother to remember doing screenshots. Hahaha.

Um, I can't think of any tutorials for beginners right now because I never followed tutorials except for the one on how to remove white spaces from lineart. That was like years ago though. If I find any good ones, I'll let you know.
I did find an excellent online guide about color theory though I still have to read all of it.

Nice nice! I'm glad you were able to find a tutorial of your liking. As for the color theory guide, the one I have is fairly complex, but I think if I actually read it, I would learn a great deal.
