Description
This was a cosplay for tekkoshocon 2007. It was supposed to be Sei Sakuraoka of Gantz. All in, it took almost 200 hours to make. (sewing maching died so I had to sew by hand, also engineering this was crazy!) With all the characters the series goes through, I could be anyone. What do you think?update:
I never thought a pic of my suit would be so popular! A big thanks to everyone for thier nice comments. It only encourages me to do more.
Also, Big giant squishy hugs to Gesetz for a sketch of yours truley ( I am super honoured, you have no idea) and Gantzcraziness for her swiggin Gantz art. (escp that one of Sei and the red one. Ah, heck, It's all smashing)

I am so glad everyone likes this and that I get such awesome comments. Thank you for all the compliments and encouragements. I plan to wear this again in May. I just have to find out how to get the wrinkles out of it. (latex and lycra...hmmmm steaming?) I also have to try it on too. At my second job I do a lot of heavy lifting. Although I weigh the same I might have to take in the waist a little bit. Sagging material = sad face.

WOW!! That's the best Gantz cosplay I've ever seen. What fabric/supplies did you use to make the suit? We're going to try to make a suit of Oka Hachirou, from chapter 269. If you don't minds sharing we'd love to know ^-^

I was just finishing the manga up to the current issues being translated . . .
I read it in like 3 days and watched the anime in a week. . . got a bootleg of the rip slyme opening etc. . .
let me ask u - would it be possible for a lefty to sew something like this? Thats my one main reason for putting off doing any cosplay cuz sewing machines are evil and not made for leftys my love for gantz is too strong though . . . BUT ANYHOW . . . great job and glad to see another fan!!!

I want to do my own suit too, but I have problems to get enough stuff together(like good looking fabrics and these round things(I call them "livesavers")).

I had a hard time getting those "lifesavers" too. I settled on some of those plastic furniture coasters. Worked great! I got the fabric (latex coated spandex) from ebay. It was a couple of zentai suits and boy did they need modification!

Eh, this took a long time to make. I sewed it mostly by hand. Done for an anime con in Pittsburgh (Tekkoshocon 2007). Really challenging.
I bought two of those Spandex suits to start with. I also used juice bottles, foam, furniture coasters, glue and electric tape. I have seen some guys do it as they just paint their torsos with a paint of some kind and spirit gum the button thingys on. Try looking them up on cosplay.com.
