I’m doing little sketches as refs for TLK characters and my designs for them! First up is Chumvi! One of Simba and Nala’s childhood friends and (in my HC) the father of Kovu and Vitani! He stayed in the pridelands for most of Scar’s reign, but him and Tama tried to leave with their newborn Cubs for a better life. Sadly, Zira’s hunting party found them trying to leave and told them they could either all die, or give up their Cubs to Zira, they picked the latter. Kovu and Vitani (who’s birth names were Kokoto and Mchanga) were given to Zira, but while Zira was distracted, Tama hid their third cub, Omarr, away in a large crack in the rock next to her. They left swiftly, but returned soon after to take Omarr. They lived on the outskirts of the pridelands until Omarr became an adult. They returned to see not only had thier Cubs lived, but Kovu had become the new king of the pridelands.

Chumvi is a more chill and laid back lion, in contrast to how he was as a cub, which was anxious and paranoid. He spends his time either napping or playing games with the Leopards in the pridelands.
