I'm not that artistic nor am I skilled at drawing. But there's only one way to improve as far as I know: practice, publish and get feedback. This is the first piece I've ever published here. Feedback is welcome...This is a shaded sketch of my favourite weapon, the shock rifle, from my favorite game, UT2004.

Shock combo: Secondary Fire, Shoot the Ball with Primary fire, BOOM, Multi-kill.

UT2k4 ftw! And this is also one of mah fav weapons too, unless facin off against vehicles.

I like this drawing. Very helpful for asomeone who needed to know what a shock rifle looks like. (Like me. )

It does hark back to the days that I played Quake 3 in Single Player mode using a Lightning Gun - I think it's similar to the Shock Rifle. One of these days, I might want to get a copy of UT2004 and try it out

UT2004 also has a lightning gun, and is infinitely better than Quake 3 in my opinion! Unreal Tournament 3 is just around the corner as well.

lol, the Lightning Gun in Q3 eats up ammo in a continueous Strem, whereas the Lightning Gun in Unreal Tournament 2K3/4 acts as a Sniper Rifle, and there is no Lightning Gun in Unreal Tournament 3, only teh Sniper Rifle.

I agree with tbolt about the straight lines. Sometimes using a ruler ends up making your drawing look too flat, but I don't think that it would hurt on this picture.
And as soon as I saw this, I knew exactly what it was. So, at least it's recognizable!
I think you did a very nice job with the shading. The only suggestion I have is making "shine" spots on the metal, but I can't remember what parts/if any on the shock rifle are metal.
Nice job, keep it up!

Ok, let me have a look...
It looks really cool! =^^=
The lines could be straighter (nitpick, and if you see any of my stuff, I can't draw a straight line or smooth curve to save my life! )
The small details make it look authentic without being too cluttered.
As a former soldier and an engineer, the only thing I would worry about are the two cables sticking out of the side, those would definitely be taped up and away in the field...
Please forgive the nitpickiness!
The perspective and shading are really good! The gun looks 3-d and nothing seems like it was squashed, stretched or bent.
