A 10 hour drawing of a Doberman. Such cute ears!!!10 hours+ on A3 paper with mechanical pencil.

Ye I had a look at your gallery, and saw ur WIP on ur min pin. He is looking good so far. Getting a good likeness and overall proportions right from numerous references can be tough, I know

Hehe problem is i always have grand plans of doing series', but never seem to finish them. Tho I should have the time to do them soon, so no excuses then for me!

It looks a little smoother than some of the others, more subtle.

I know i took a long time on him, so its probably why i like it the most, n all the sweat n tears along with it! hehe

Hehe ye, i know i can improve alot still, just need to work on some more pieces, maybe concentrate on specifics on some smaller pieces for a while (with my drawing anyway) cos i always tend to end up using old habits whenever i start something, so i think i end up limiting myself on moving forwards.
Practise makes perfect though eh?

It don't matter what you do, as long as you do it. It all helps. I often find that I get worse just before I move forward.
Try holding the pencil really loosely, like at the wrong end, so you have no control and can't do details. I tried this several times. Like using a pallette knife to paint. It's sooooooooo frustrating, you can't do what you want, but it does work. It still gets down the image, but in it's simplest form, which is what we want really. The fewest lines that work.

Hope it works. It does give nice soft drawings. I mainly tried it with paint brushes though.

Aww! I love doberman pinchers! I use to have one but she died of old age. She was the best dog I ever had. You did a amazing job! I love the eyes *favs*
