EDIT: Just realized I submitted this on Valentines Day! So, this counts as my V-day picture. Ha. Also, why is he shirtless? I think my reasoning behind it was that they snuck out of bed... So. Yeah.After seeing some really interesting clip art from the show, I decided to try my hand at another piece of Total Drama Island fanart! I say this because, really, I used heavy reference for this image and wouldn't feel right without saying; I drew this, yes, but it's really just a compliation of a few images in my sketchbook. *laughs* I drew the background myself, though! And, a final note, this is at 25% original size... which makes it, oh... about 3400pxx5400px original size!
The story behind it?
I always pictured Gwen and Duncan nicking off when the cameras are off and having a smoke. Yes, I know they're 16 but... Duncan is so the type; Gwen, on the other hand, probably only joins in every so often. In this particular instance, I see Gwen talking about how it's nice to see something so beautiful still alive on the crappy island; Duncan counters with something along the lines of 'you'd be surprised how many beautiful things can live on this island.'
And then they make out lol.

I'm not a big fan of the pairing, but I also see nothing wrong with them being friends, and fully believe Gwen when she's insisted such in the show. And it's a cute picture with two friends hanging out.
(Or more than friends, if you'd rather look at it that way, I guess.)

I left this a little ambiguous for that reason; without my insane rant about my thoughts on the picture, they could easily be discussing how they miss their partners or even just about the weather. Thanks for the nice comment.

Nice background, the stairs look a bit weird but it still seems to work. I like the glowing fireflies in the tree effect, nice touch there. I'm not big on Gwen wearing black everything, it may be very in character for her but it makes it hard to see her clearly when she's bunched up like that. Regardless, some nice casual poses of those two taking a break. Fantastic pic.

Now you mention it, it might be worth going back and making it slightly lighter. I just went for her PJs, which are solid black, but maybe a dark grey would work better. Thanks for that!
And the stairs - i made the silly mistake of not working on the background/poses together, so I had to work them around their butts...

I sympathize with your not working out the background/poses together thing, that's happened to me way too many times. Luckily the TDI style is very abstract so it's very forgiving when it come to breaking perspective. 
I hope to see more TDI stuff from you, you do wonderful work.
