another father-daughter sketchdump, this time between Hecate and her father, King Discord.
1 (far left). Hecate and Sunstar are best friends. they always manage to find time to see each other, and can talk about their deepest secrets comfortably with one another.
Hecate was never a good flier. Despite her best attempts, even her all-powerful chaos magic could never help. So her parents opted to give her professional flying lessons with a Cloudsdale expert (both of her parents agreed it would be nice to get her out of the palace. Help her learn the kingdom a little bit). Who was her teacher? None other than the famous, scientifically-oriented daughter of Rainbow Dash and Fluttershy, Rogue Lightning.
Despite her being a princess, Rogue wasn't a big fan of Hecate. She was too easily distracted, and never paid much attention to her lessons, no matter how strict she was. Rogue had to spend a lot of time tutoring the wayward student, teaching her professional maneuvers. Eventually, with some private training, she was able to successfully fly around without smacking into corners.
Hecate didn't like Rogue (or she thought she didn't). She was way too logical about everything, and way, way too serious. She couldn't take a joke for shit. But something about her no-funny-business demeanor was charming, and she found to her hatred and disgust that she had a big crush on the pegasus, and has maintained it ever since. Sunstar knows about this, and keeps trying her best to get the two together. Her knowledge of love has helped her bring them together a little bit, but she can't do all that much to help.
NOTE: Rogue Lightning is perfectly aware of Hecate's feelings towards her, but doesn't oblige them too much. She falls for the princess eventually
2 (top center). Discord's pony disguise. It isn't too blatantly clever, but it confuses everyone, looking oddly familiar, but too far off to place.
He used this disguise when he began courting Twilight. He was quite fond of the princess, but knew that he couldn't make advances on her without her being suspicious, not in his normal form, anyway. So he created another form, so that he could approach her without scaring her off. He had to take the time to 'introduce' himself again, and it surprisingly helped him learn more about her than he'd known before. Eventually he confessed his true form to her, and they hit it off astoundingly well.
NOTE: Twilight is the only pony who knows that Discord uses this form. He keeps his identity well-hidden.

When Shining Armor heard that Discord, the Lord and Incarnation of Chaos, was dating his sister, he was fucking livid. He'd heard about what he'd done to Equestria, and had seen it first-hoof. He didn't trust the draconequus at all. He confronted the ancient being, telling him that he'd better take good, good care of his little sis or else he would definitely be hearing from him. Discord was a bit...disgruntled by this. He actually kind of liked Shining Armor, and admired his strength and his loyalty. Now that he was dating Twilight, he was even more eager to get his approval. This confrontation went just about as he expected, however (the entirety of Equestria still questions his loyalty to this day, even after him and Twilight married). Over time, he tried real damn hard to make a good impression on the unicorn, and it worked to an extent. Shining's mistrust was eased a little bit, and though he still wasn't sure about him, he learned to ease off a little bit. He was actually quite overjoyed to act as the best man at their wedding, at Discord's request.
