Description

The Asimov class was designated as a remote operations vessel. It has no crew and operates entirely under computer control. It was designed to be sent on extremely long haul exploration missions, not expected to return for decades or even centuries. A few have even been sent outside the galaxy to try and reach other nearby galaxies. Some may eventually be overtaken by the later introduction of Transwarp / Slipstream technologies, but others may still yet reach their destinations first.

Some of these ships sent on shorter missions were sent without their dorsal sensor pod as the additional equipment was not required.
