Description Developed in the 27th Century, the Polygon class was a unique design.  The ship is 359m in length from fore to aft nacelle tip and it's spaceframe is simplified with a primarily hexagonal influence, as well as being heavily reinforced against subspace stresses.  The ship is equipped with a Mk3.5 Spiral Induction core and unique dual phase nacelles (so it technically has 4 nacelles, 2 per pylon).  These dual phase nacelles are designed to create a more stable subspace field for sustained flight at transwarp velocities to assist the ships primary mission profile as a transwarp mapping ship.

Like many many Star Fleet ship classes before, the Polygon class featured saucer (or Hexagon in this case) separation.  This allowed the saucer to act as a lifeboat for the crew or to provide a separate platform to assist in mapping duties.  The saucer was also capable of opening existing transwarp and subspace conduits on it's own, making it less reliant on the star drive section when separated.
