Description
Part I: [link]Continuum about archery:
Upper part:
Also mistakes that people make when drawing archers is when archer is holding a bow he POINT his index finger, This is wrong.
Up left s the most basic correct holding of a bow. With this however you expose you palm to injuries from arrow vane ( feathers/wings ) and you can get pain in the wrist. But sport bows have special rest ( the place where you lie you arrow down ) that is away from your hand and that is why it is correct and there are few injuries but they occur when you try to shot from naked bow ( most basic bow ).
Up right is mistake example of pointing your finger when shooting from bow. Injuries are indexed by arrows.
Down left and down right is the way I hold a bow. You relax you hand so when you draw a bow it just stick to your hand. Please do grip it a little bit just enough not to drop you bow when firing. It is also the natural location for the wrist so it too wont suffer. Injuries are minimal or none.
______________________________________________
Lower part:
Holding arrows, but first:
(modern) Arrow parts: [link]
Up left - Ok, now what most of you when you instantly grab and arrow and nock it ( nock = attach it to bow string also arrow part ), you hold it with your thumb and index finger.
This is wrong. First of all, arrow should not be grabbed, it can cause damage on arrows itself and your fingers can slip from it and you will probably end up killing an innocent knight standing in front of you or shooting your leg.
Up right - This is used in european/sport archery you grab the bow string with 3 fingers:
First goes the index finger,
then goes the arrow,
then goes the middle finger
and under it or without it goes ring finger
Hand parts : [link]
Now arrow should be just barely gripped in just to keep it on the arrow string. Most todays nocks have simple locking mechanism that makes you arrow lock onto bowstring and can't drop off it.
Arrow goes over the left side of bow ( over you index finger root ).
Down left and down right - Way of holding arrow in kyudo. You grab the bowstring with your thumb. Arrow goes over the right side of the bow ( over you thumb ).

Well...most of them are either old or are not finished...deviantart is still some kind of portfolio and also scraps exist for reason. When you get better some stuff gets outdated and crappy by your current quality standard especially if you are working on same thing...here's example [link]

Just a few but I've got a few more I'm gonna try to load maybe this weekend.
Also about the arms.
A. Idk. I kinda like it. I see what you mean BUT Have you ever seen Afro Samurai or Hellsing OVA? In those animes they give the characters this long limbed, lanky look and I loved it. It made them more powerful somehow.
B. I have really long arms actually. I can touch my knees without bending. I kinda like how it looks. Lol.
