Description
I made this: [link] a while ago having only watched a few episodes of Glee. A lot of people I know are really into it so I decided to give the show another shot. What is this I don't even? I tried and tried to like it but just can't find the appeal in sitting trough 35 minutes of unfunny quibbles only to sit throughout 10 more minutes of songs that originally were't that great, now sung in an even more boring fashion. However, I have learned one valuable thing from watching shows like Glee, High School Musical, and American Idol... If I ever want to make a successful series I know exactly what to call it: "Attractive Young People (That Can Kinda Sing) Sing and Dance and Do Other Stuff Too!"Related content

I know what you mean. Even reality shows are scripted, and gain a lot of unnecessary publicity.
What shows do you appreciate?

Something tells me I probably watch too many TV shows but Dexter, True Blood, and Supernatural (but I wish supernatural ended with last season) are some of my current favs. Also watched Lost until it got stupid. Adventure Time, Spongebob (older ones), Cat Dog, Flap Jack, Jimmy Neutron, Venture Bros, Metalocalypse, Futurama, Teen Titans, Otome Yōkai Zakuro, Dragon Ball Z are some animated shows I like/liked. Watched a lot of Roseanne, Desperate Housewives, Intervention, Gilmore Girls, The Biggest Looser (talk about setup/scripted), CSI and The Mighty Boosh for some reason too. And of course any show that is satirical/pokes fun at anything such as The Daily Show, Colbert Report, The Soup, Tosh.0, South Park, Robot Chicken, and The Onion is awesome.
Basically HBO/Comedy Central=

Thanks for telling me. Obviously, you've enjoyed plenty of "dark humor" and a heavy dose of mystery, epic anime, and the 1990's. haha I loved watching Roseanne and a lot of those other shows you mentioned.
In 2 months, I'm going to start an art channel (it might start out as a web series), after I develop a company of pros in the game/movie business. By the way, I love your taste in shows and art in general.

The funny thing is... I watch Glee and even I know it's crap. >.< It's one of those shows you recognize as immensely predictable with two-dimensional characters and rehashed storylines.... and computerized harmonies.
Although, to be fair there are a lot of actual singers on the show. Matthew Morrison and Lea Michele were both Broadway actors before Glee and the slew of guest stars they've had sing better than all the Glee people combined. Idina Menzel and Kristin Chenoweth anyone?

That was something I found strange... some of the singer's voices sounded genuine... while at sometimes other's sounded... altered?

Even though I couldn't get past the first episode of Glee I completely agree about Kristin Chenoweth and Idina Menzel. I love Wicked and Rent and both of those ladies can sing their faces off. You can't be a lead on Broadway and NOT be able to sing your face off unless you're a celebrity coming from Hollywood previously.

Idina Menzel is the whole reason I started watching Glee. Lol. She's one of my obsessions (saw her in concert, first row woot woot) so I knew I had to watch her episodes and I kind of got obsessed...
Yeah, I'm always so surprised about finding out what "Hollywood" celebrities go and do Broadway. Like Brooke Shields and Teri Hatcher doing Cabaret. O.o Didn't know they could sing. But sometimes Hollywood celebrities surprise us with how well they can perform. Like all the actors in the film version of Chicago.

I went through a faze where I watched the entire first season of Glee within a week. Keeping in mind I know/knew they can't act and the storyline is non-existant, the thing is the whole show is based around the fact that they can sing. Most of them have had some experience in showbiz (Lea Michele (Broadway), Kevin McHale -the wheelchair guy (in a boyband as well as professional dancer), Diana Argon (acting mainly but also directing and screenwriting), Jenna Ushkowitz (broadway and other acting roles), Chris Colfer (acting roles), Naya Rivera (acting roles), Heather Morris (Dancer, in fact she toured with Beyonce as one of her back up dancers in 2007-8), Mark Salling (singer, acting), Harry Shum, Jr (professional Dancer and has worked with Beyonce, Mariah Carey, Jennifer Lopez and Jessica Simpson as well as dancing on some of the STEP UP movies)... etc

There's no doubt they're pretty decent entertainers... but they're not really given the chance to. All their harmonies are computerized to sound perfect (rather than having the actors sing the necessary notes to create a harmony) and they don't get to flex all that many acting muscles because a lot of it is more farce-oriented. But I'm not going to lie and say I don't laugh my ass off any time Brittany opens her mouth. Love her.

You can only computerise so much though, which is a weird thing.
Have you heard them live? There's something off about it - Corey and Michele's vocals don't match. Off the show anyway. She's too high noted and he's more middle ground, it sounds off.

You'd be surprised what you can computerize. Madonna's last live album was pretty much entirely computerized. It was fairly obvious and was disappointing given that she actually does sound great live.

I don't like Glee all that much, buut it's ok for me.
BUT LOL, I hate all the rest you citated on the drawing. And American Idol not so much because I like laughing at the people who sing bad xD

(lol I only watch Idol the first couple of weeks for the bad singers too XD)
The thing is the storyline/dialogue for Glee is not the worst thing I have ever witnessed. I feel it is on par with most other comedy shows. However, while Glee exploded with popularity after the first season, most similar (and better) shows die in obscurity and it is sad. I'm entirely convinced it is because Glee is centered around singing/dancing and for some reason people go apeshit over sing/dancing.

Heh, yeah, I don't know why people do that. I mean, it's quite nice but there are other comedy shows, you know?
